Evans Sues IGP, CP Over Violation Of HisFundamental Human Rights

Suspected billionaire kiidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, has started a court battle to regain freedom, as he has filed a suit against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over his continued detention.

Evans, who seeks to compel the IGP to either charge him to court or release him from custody, also joined the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Fatai Owoseni; the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos Command and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in the fundamental rights enforcement suit.
In a motion ex-parte filed before the Federal High Court, Lagos, yesterday by his lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, Evans claimed that he has been detained by the police since June 10, 2017, and subjected to media trial and parade without any court order.

The suspected kidnapper said there has been grave constitutional infraction perpetrated by the respondents against him, as he ought to have been charged or arraigned before a court, in accordance with sections 35 and 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He also posited that he has the right, under Section 46 of the 1999 Constitution, to approach the court for redress for the breach of his fundamental rights.

However, in a 27-paragraph affidavit, Mr. Stephen Onwuamadike, Evans’ father, claimed that his family has been denied access to their son, who has since been in police detention.
Onwuamadike further alleged that the media trial of Evans and parade by the police have continued to generate reactions without giving him the opportunity of a fair trial in a law court.
No judge has been assigned the case and no date has been fixed for hearing.

However, in a reaction to the suit, a senior police officer said the police have a court warrant to detain Evans and his gang members for three month to enable the police conclude investigations in Nigeria, Ghana and Southg Africa.
Evans was arrested on June 10, 2017 at one of his mansions in Magodo, Lagos. before his arrewst, he was on the wanted list of the police for over a period of time, for alleged kidnappings.
One of his alleged victims, Mr Donatus Dunu, miraculously escaped from one of his enclaves at Igandu, Lagos and took the police to the hideouts. The police stormed the scene where they recovered arms and ammunition.

The Inspector-General of Police, who was not happy with the Lagos State Police Command for not arresting Evans, had earlier ordered his Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to take over the investigation. A few weeks after the IRT, led by ACP Abba Kyari, took over the case, Evans was arrested. His arrest has generated a media hype .
A senior police officer had claimed that he investigated Evans for an armed robbery attack in 2006. He also claimed that a policewoman serving at the Police College, by name Tina, begged that the case be dropped.

The police officer further alleged that when his team refused to drop the case, the poliicewoman travelled to Imo State and shortly after her returned back to Lagos, the Imo State police command requested that the case be transferred to it.
According to him, the request by the Imo police was the last he heared of Evans until his arrest and subsequent publicity.
Following the police officer’s allegation, the IGP ordered investigation into the allegation.

LADY FAINTS AFTER MISTAKENLY BREAKING A £34,000 BRACELET WHILE TRYING IT ON AT A SHOP

A tourist in China is reported to have fainted after accidentally breaking a jade bracelet worth £34,000.

The woman was visiting a jade market in Ruili City, south western China’s Yunnan province on June 27 when she accidentally dropped a bracelet while trying it on. 

Unfortunately for the woman, the jade bracelet snapped in half, reports the People’s Daily Online. 

According to reports, the bracelet slipped out of her hand and it cracked in two after hitting the floor. Footage shows the moment the woman faints upon learning the price of the bracelet. 

Jade is a luxury product in China and is seen to represent good health and a long life. Following the smash, the shop’s owner told her that the bracelet was worth £34,000.

She was reportedly so shocked that she passed out and had to be placed on the ground by family members in order to recover. According to witnesses, the family offered the seller £8,000 in damages, however, he refused saying that was not enough for them to break even. 

The bracelet was valued by an independent expert to cost around £20,700. The family agreed to pay the owner this sum of money.

The source said that Adebolajo now sees his role in life to recruit as many Jihadis as possible for the remainder of his life. It is understood that Adebolajo has been given “special category” status because of the danger he represents. .

The source added: “If he is suspected of trying to radicalise other inmates we step in and move him. But even in prison, Adebolajo cannot be watched all the time. We don’t have the staff or the resources.” .

Blac Chyna involved in car accident, checked out by paramedics

Blac Chyna was involved in a potentially scary car accident on June 24 in Studio City, California.

The incident occurred around 2:30 AM that morning, and resulted in the star being checked out by paramedics, according to TMZ.

The individual who rear-ended Blac Chyna's white Rolls-Royce was later detained for a possible DUI, though there's no news if they were confirmed to be driving under the influence.

The outlet reported that immediately after the car accident Blac Chyna was placed in an ambulance and cared for by paramedics for around 45 minutes, before eventually getting the all clear.

Once paramedics determined she was fine, another car then came to pick her up. There's no word on who was driving that vehicle.

Blac Chyna has remained quiet on social media since the incident occurred.

It's not the reality star's first time being involved in car drama. Back in 2015 she allowed a friend, another reality star named Paige Addison from the show "Boss Nails," to drive her white BMW, and Paige subsequently got involved in a pretty serious accident and fled the scene.

At the time rumors swirled that Blac Chyna actually was behind the wheel, as witnesses claimed two African-American women in mini skirts ran from the BMW after smashing it into an Audi SUV. Chyna was eventually able to clear her name once Paige admitted she had been the one driving at the time of the accident.

Obaseki urges Politicians not to compromise Nigeria’s unity

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has urged Nigerians, especially politicians, not to compromise the unity of Nigeria by sticking to political and other affiliations.

Obaseki made the call while talking with newsmen shortly after the inauguration of Bridge 98.7 FM, a new radio station, in Asaba, Delta, on Friday.

He said that political affiliations should not be considered more important than the unity shared by the citizenry.

On collaboration between Edo and Delta in spite of different political parties being in government in both states, the governor said that the states shared the same heritage and had remained one.

According to him, Edo and Delta people are one; we used to be one state (Bendel), so, political affiliation cannot divide us.

He commended the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the radio station, Dr Henry Nzekwu, for the state-of-the-art facilities and level of professionalism employed in setting up the station.

The governor said that his administration would draw inspiration from the initiative to develop broadcast stations in Edo.

Earlier, Nzekwu had said that the station was established to promote national unity, family values and economic development.

Nzekwu expressed optimism that the best of technologies would be leveraged on to deliver quality services to the populace.

Evans to Face Death Penalty

Lagos state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has signed into law Life Imprisonment or death penalty for the offence of Kidnap and forceful extortion in Lagos State as he signs into law the state kidnapping prohibition bill, 2016.

The law provides for death penalty for kidnappers whose victims die in their custody, and life imprisonment for the act of kidnapping.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Lagos State House of Assembly passed the bill on January 5.

The governor said that the law was enacted to address key issues bordering on security.

He said that kidnapping had become a major threat to the safety of residents and, therefore, required decisive action by the government.

“This law imposes a penalty of life imprisonment for kidnapping for ransom.

“The law stipulates that, where a victim dies in the course of kidnapping, the suspect is liable on conviction to death.

“Security is of utmost importance to our administration, and we are confident that this law will serve as a deterrent to anybody, who may desire to engage in this wicked act within the boundaries of Lagos State.

“Our justice system will be required to execute this law in absolute and make sure that any criminal caught faces the full wrath of the law,” he said.

Based on this, it is very likely, George Evans gets a life imprisonment or death penalty sentence.

JAMB announces supplementary UTME for July 1

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced  Saturday, July 1 to conduct supplementary Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 85,000 candidates.

This was made known in a statement released by the board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, announced the date in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to him, the examination, which is for candidates who registered late and those with related issues, will be spread across some Computer Based Testing (CBT) centres.

“Following an enlarged management meeting of the JAMB, the supplementary 2017 UTME has been fixed to hold on Saturday, July 1.

“No fewer than 85,000 candidates are scheduled to write the examination.

“Affected candidates have been notified through text messages.

“By this notice, they are advised to check their e-mail and profile for the schedule of their examination or visit the board’s website for their status,’’ Benjamin said.

According to him, candidates will soon be requested to print their e-slip for details such as date, venue and time of the examination.

The board noted that candidates, who are not listed for the supplementary, would not be communicated while those, whose results are withheld, would reflect in their profiles, which have been updated.

The board also advised rescheduled candidates to comport themselves and be of good behaviour to avoid the circumstance that earlier necessitated the cancellation of their previous examination.

“Many of the candidates rescheduled for this examination enjoy this privilege because of the board’s principles of equality and inclusiveness.

“It is better to let 100 offenders go free than to punish one innocent person.

“The board will enhance its monitoring of the examination as it would not compromise its sanctity.”

1.7 million candidates registered for the 2017 UTME in 633 centres across the country.

The examination was conducted from May 13 to May 20 but the board cancelled the results of more than 50,000 candidates.

It also delisted 48 Computer Based Testing centres over what was described as huge and organised malpractices.

Buhari’s Health Worsens in the UK, Loses Memory and Voice…See Shocking Details

Strong rumours have it that President Muhammadu Buhari’s health status has deteriorated with no hope of him returning to Nigeria soonest.

 

President Muhammadu Buhari, who left Nigeria 45 days ago to resume treatment for an undisclosed medical condition believed to be cancer, has developed speech difficulties, presidency sources said today.

Previously, Mr. Buhari was also said to be suffering memory lapses. The latest revelation stems from recent attempts to return the President to Nigeria by members of a cabal managing his health and using it to deceive Nigerians.

Several of President Buhari’s aides who traveled with him are reportedly not in touch with him, reports say, while others were ordered to return to Nigeria, with nobody having any certainty about the prospects of Mr. Buhari’s date of return.

During his last trip Saharareporters revealed that his London doctors rejected the idea of his returning to work. They asked that he remained in London for four months to see how best they could treat his illness. Nonetheless, the cabal managing the president brought him back to enable him to undertake a number of acts including military postings and appointments that would have been impossible with an acting President on seat.

At that time, Buhari revealed he had been very ill and had received blood transfusion, and indicated he would soon return to the UK for further treatment. During the period he was in Nigeria, he was rarely seen outside, but managed to attend a few Federal Executive Council meetings which he left as soon as the photo opportunities were done with. Two weeks after that return, his condition deteriorated and doctors had to be flown in from the UK to embark on treatment, but that phase lasted only for a few weeks.

The president then stopped attending the weekly FEC altogether, but to maintain the ruse that he was healthy, members of the cabal would shepherd him to the mosque on Fridays hoping to generate sentiments within the core Muslim north where a rumor had circulated that the president had been “poisoned”.

Buhari eventually left for the UK abruptly on the evening of May 7, shortly after meeting with some Chibok girls who had been released the previous day by Boko Haram. Although Buhari spoke at the event, his voice was barely audible, as he had lost a lot of weight, his condition reportedly complicated by Crohn’s Disease.

When the President was leaving for the airport, he shocked his aides when he asked if they were going to Sokoto, perhaps one of the first signs of his deteriorating memory.

It has now been learnt that President Buhari has not spoken to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo by telephone since his departure.  Only last week, the Acting President was asked to await a phone call from Mr. Buhari but when a call eventually came in, nothing coherent was heard from Mr. Buhari, despite the cabal having kept telling people of his “tremendous” improvement.

The cabal is also reportedly behind the rumors of a possible coup by some military officers a couple of weeks ago, as well as the recent quit notice by some Northern youths to the Igbos in that area, which they figured would make western countries view such an attempt with understanding if they thought the action would protect Nigeria as an indivisible entity.

Meanwhile, several top western diplomats including the Ambassadors of the US and the UK, are scheduled to meet with Acting President Osinbajo in the coming days. It is unclear if at that meeting the UK will brief Osinbajo regarding Buhari’s exact condition, but a State Department official told.

Saharareporters that they are more concerned about Nigeria’s indivisibility than the question of Buhari’s health.  A source at the British Embassy told this website they don’t think Buhari could continue to govern in the condition he is in London.

President Buhari left Nigeria flew into London Heathrow airport on a Presidential jet with registration number 5N-FGT in the first week of May. The jet was then flown on a 17-minute ride to London Stansted Airport, where it remains parked for over a month.
