What a miserable and confused life am I living? Arinze questioned rhetorically, or is it one wicked old-looking wraith in control of my predicaments? no it cannot, because no destiny is in the hands of any human except the creator, but why is mine different?, what are the obstacles standing like a mountain in my way to sail through, many a time in church, people making one testimony or the other, or am I not counted among the successful ones?.
Arinze a young man of about twenty-eight years, by God willing, a graduate of accounting from a prestigious university in the country, graduated with a "second class upper" destiny has turn its back away from him, yesterdays pain does not really determine todays gain, he would recapitulate the sayings of his father.
Am I not better than Tolulope back then in the university? he would say continuously, now she is working with the "Nigeria Super Squad" earning huge monthly salary, living an ostentatious life, may be the Creator is angry with me, and decides to inflict on me this situation.
Countless time he had put forward his curriculum vitae (CV) to as many company who are ready to offer him a job, but no success coming through, he summoned courage and continue is quest for fortune each time he had been disappointed, he tried to divert the lazy thought from his mind "give up" as this is what the government plan for its graduates scattered round the four corners of the country.
Where are we heading to, a country endowed with robust natural resources, sages and intellectuals seen all over the nation with a huge investment plague by the cruel hand to their pocket by those called themselves the administrative class, are we the same ages ago? he concluded with tears cascading from his jumbo eyeballs.
On a fateful day Arinze took a glance at the calendar, its says 5/July He ponder over it continuously and released a great sigh like thunder clap, Oh the creator of heavens and earth, today marks three years and three months of joblessness, me of all people striving for survival.

He continued with an optimistic view of success, that one day success will be lock in his room, he decided to see a friend to share one or two talk with, on returning his sharp sight caught a plank on a pole hung above a sky, it says....... Vacancy.. Office assistant... accountant.. clerk... security... sales representative, if interested call this number for more information 081854.... he felt a sense of excitement and pray for a good result.
On getting home, he dialed the number, a man with a husky voice picked it.
"Good afternoon" this is Arinze on the line..
receiver: Oh I see, afternoon, how can I be of help to you,
Arinze: I saw a vacancy displaying your number, so I decide to call because am in need of a job
receiver: ok no problem, in two weeks time from now come with your credentials and other important attachments to number 25/26 Agadu Estate for an interview by 9:00am
Arinze: thank you very much, I will do as you have instructed.
Joy and happiness consumed him in a jiffy, as if he had gotten the job offer, he prayed reverently so as to secure the job.
On the blessed day of the interview, he had gotten there thirty minutes before the stipulated time, which is 9:00am, He sat patiently among the applicants, waiting one after the other in their turn, fortunately he was called upon, he breezed in quickly as fast as his legs could take him with his credentials.
Good morning sir, said Arinze
Interviewer: morning and how you
Arinze: am fine
Interviewer: can I see your Credentials
Arinze: Here it is
Interviewer: stretched his hand to received it, cross checked it and ask him several questions.
Arinze: giggle and answer correctly the questions the interviewer had put forward to him.
Interviewer: but which church are you worshipping with
Arinze: with the catholic church sir.

On getting home the question run down his mind, why will this man asked me this question, which church am I worshipping with?, what has worshipping has to do with securing a job?, or is worship now a criteria for someone securing a job? no I must get this job, after answering correctly most of the interviewed question.
A week passed quickly, now lies the day he will go to the place he went for an interview, on getting there, He waited patiently for an hour, until a smart looking handsome man of about 38 years old came and address them, well done Oh applicants, you guys did well, please if you are not being offered a job opportunity, don't be offended please, try else where who knows opportunities is waiting for you as soon as you leave here, he called out the list of those successful without wasting time.
Arinze was in a pensive mood, regretted for coming into this live, this is the seventh time am going for an interview and not being successful, or this one, is it that am not a member if his worship? but why?. Amm qualify for this job, he said amidst tears, is not an easy task to graduate with 2:1. or may be God has better plans for me.
He took a pen and decided to write a poem on behalf of many job seekers who have been stranded several years of joblessness.
COME TOMORROW
The road is buff
abandoning the destination
in the nearest pace,
where am I to go?
keep sinking in the factual skull.
Every blessed day
hardship of his exchanged with prayers
plague by the leaders
who makes life unbearable.
the body becomes lively
upon sighting a vacancy
from different angles
arouse the sky.
his ears forsake him
when the word made a contact
with his ears, come back tomorrow
by the heavy tongue of the boss.
Eyes becomes weary,
body becomes heavy,
legs swell
spirit departs the body instantly.
why has life turns its back on me?
why destiny forsake me?
why love ones hurl at me?
why country turn upside down?.
tidy the credentials firmly,
like a sitting room,
but no use as to it,
but time will tell.
Momoh Ayuba Danjumah (Pen-Chant).
