More Than 100 Niger Delta Militants Killed As Nigerian Army Rains Bombs On Creeks

– The Nigerian army killed about 114 suspected militants in the attack on their camps in the south-west

– One of the sources ask military to continue attacks as militants may regroup and cause greater havoc

Military attack on Arepo

The source has revealed that at least 114 suspected Niger Delta militants are feared killed and scores of others wounded in attacks on their camps in Ogun and Lagos states.

The Nigerian army, Air Force and Navy, commenced the bombardment on July 28 under the operation “Crocodile Laugh” in readiness for a showdown with militants in the Niger Delta.

Brig Gen Rabe Abubakar, director of the defence information, confirmed the operation.

The Punch reporter has said that he counted at least eight missiles fired by a fighter jet, which flew across the creek at intervals. Another airplane was seen hovering around the area.

Residents, who were informed about the operation, ran for their safety due to the ground-shaking effects of the missiles.

One of the local who was on the road when the shots were fired said the July 30 attack was more intense than previous air raids.

She said: “The air raid started on Thursday evening. It was just a missile that was released, but the effect was serious. On Friday evening, another airplane which flew across the creek released gunfire which lasted for some minutes. I could hear the shots as if they were fired close at me. But the Thursday and Friday attacks were child’s play compared with that of today (Saturday).

“The aircraft releasing the missiles had three short wings with a sharp mouth. It maintained a visible presence in the sky and anytime it wanted to fire, it flew down as if it was about to crash. I never knew the military had such a weapon.”

Another local, who also asked not to be named, said that he lay flat in his apartment during the attack.

“I was alone in the house with my son. The boy shook with fright every time a missile landed. I carried him and lay flat on the floor. The missiles shook the whole ground. I am not sure if I would  continue to live here because of this. My landlord left with his family yesterday,” he said.

A source close to the militants revealed that the missiles leveled the base of the militants, continuing that more than 100 people were killed.

He said: “The whole place has been leveled. From the information I just gathered, those killed today (Saturday) cannot be less than 100. I am aware that some of them (the militants) are presently in the waters where they are hiding. They are making calls and seeking escape routes from the place.

Another source supposed that the militants could regroup and cause greater havoc if given a breathing space.

“The heat is on them. One of them said it was because of the kidnap of a monarch in Lagos (Oniba of Iba) that the missile attack was intensified,” he said.

“He said he had asked his colleagues to release the monarch, but they didn’t listen. I am aware that the monarch will be released between today and tomorrow, if he has not been killed.

“The military should deploy secret officials in Ibafo, Pakuro, Wawa and other villages. I believe those places will be their next hideouts. They must not be given any breathing space. If they are allowed to regroup, there will be serious problems.”

Meanwhile, the MEND claimed that it reached a peace agreement with the federal government to renew the stability in the oil-rich region.

As a part of the deal, Nnamdi Kanu and other imprisoned activists may be freed if the attacks stopped.

At the same time, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Alli, has said that government cannot rule out the use of force in dealing with militants.

Nurses Shut Benin-Lagos Highway Over Colleagues Abduction

Protesting nurses of the University Of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), staging a peaceful protest over the abduction of two of their colleagues yesterday, in Benin City, Edo State PHOTO: MICHAEL EGBEJULE

Vehicular and human traffic on the busy Benin-Lagos Highway was on standstill for several hours yesterday as nurses from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) protested the abduction of two of their colleagues by unknown gunmen.

This is coming few weeks after another colleague was kidnapped and later released after an undisclosed ransom was paid. The abducted nurses were identified as Osemielu Lydia and Oviosu Bose, both Nursing officers grade II and were kidnapped yesterday in a private car along the Isihor axis of the Benin Lagos road, Egor Local government council, shortly after closing from work.

The protesting nurses brandished various placards with inscriptions like, “Nurses are public servants, enough of the kidnapping”, “UBTH Nurses say no to kidnapping” and “Release our nurses!” Taking over major streets and federal highways in the state capital, they disrupted vehicular and pedestrian movements on the busy express road.

The protesting nurses who abandoned their duty posts also stopped over at the palace of His Royal Highness, Crown Prince (Amb) Eheneden Erediauwa, Edaiken N’ Uselu, and the Edo state House of Assembly Premises (EDHA) to register their displeasure over the incessant kidnap of nurses in the state.

It would be recalled that no fewer than four nurses of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) have been abducted in the last one month. President of National Association of Nurses and Midwives (NANM) UBTH Branch, Austin Osigbemhe who condemned the act of kidnapping nurses, appealed for their release unhurt.” We frown at the evil act. Nurses are civil servants and should be protected and not targets of kidnappers. We need these nurses released unconditionally and unhurt.

Efforts to reach the management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) to comment on the situation was unsuccessful as the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Michael Ibadin was said to be presiding over a meeting at the time of filing this report.

EXPOSED! How Buhari's government lost N356.6bn in five months

EXPOSED! How Buhari’s government lost N356.6bn in five months

28/07/2016 6:51

– Nigeria has lost N356.6bn in five months as Forcados shutdown

– Nigeria lost at least N246.4bn as of June 19 and N110.2bn from June 20 to July 27 (using $290/$)

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari

Following the attack on Shell’s Forcados export line by hard fighting Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), which has forced the export line to remain shut, Nigeria has lost of about $1.6bn (N356.6bn) in revenue, Punch is reporting.

According to the report,  with an average oil price of $40 and exchange rate of N197 to the dollar, Nigeria lost at least N246.4bn as of June 19 and N110.2bn from June 20 to July 27 (using $290/$).

International Energy Agency has said Nigeria could lose an estimated $1bn (N197bn) in revenue by May, when repairs of the Forcados terminal was expected to be completed.

“The Forcados terminal in Delta state, one of Nigeria’s biggest terminals, was scheduled to load 250,000 barrels of crude per day. At $40 per barrel, Nigeria could stand to lose an estimated $1bn between February, when force majeure was declared, and May, when repairs are expected to be completed,” IEA said.

Quoting NNPC, Reuters reported that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation said “About 380,000barrels per day remained shut in due to vandalism of the 48-inch subsea export line on February 15, 2016.

“Also, the nation has lost over 1,500MW of power supply to the damage as gas supply from Forcados, which is Nigeria’s major artery, accounts for 40 to 50 per cent of gas production. Incessant pipeline vandalism poses the greatest threat to the industry.”

Nigeria’s oil production is now 700,000 bpd lower as a result of persistent militant attacks on oil pipelines and infrastructure.

Also, Shell has shut the Trans Niger pipeline, which is one of the pipelines that carry crude to the Bonny light export terminal, following a leak in Ogoniland.

Meanwhile, FG is set to reopen corruption cases against some ex-governors in Nigeria.

Those whose case will be reopened include embattled Senate President Bukola Saraki, factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff; and senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio

SHOCKER! EX- governor withdrew N1bn in one day

Bauchi state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar says the administration of his predecessor, Alhaji Isah Yuguda withdrew N1bn from one of the state’s accounts in a single day

– Governor Abubakar had constituted a panel to probe all contracts awarded by the previous administration

Former Bauchi governor, Isah Yuguda accused of withdrawing 1billion in a single day

The of Bauchi state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar says the administration of his predecessor, Alhaji Isah Yuguda withdrew N1bn from one of the state’s accounts in a single day.

According to a report by Punch newspaper, the governor said the N1bn was withdrawn from one of the state government’s accounts with multiple N10m cheques.

“I always feel shy of churning out figures I am not certain of. All I can say is definitely, there will be great revelations because the little I have seen, for example, I know of a situation in which in one day the sum of N1bn was taken out of one account of the government with N10m cheques.

“Several N10m cheques but I would not be able to put a figure on the total recovery because like I said, the work of the committee is ongoing,” the governor was quoted.

Governor Abubakar had constituted a panel to probe all contracts awarded by the previous administration.

But the former governor has denied all these allegations. One of his aide who was quoted described Abubakar’s assertions as part of a smear campaign.

“This has become the strategy of the present administration, it wants to divert attention from its failings. Since it has set up a committee to probe, let them probe. We will advise them to avoid a witch-hunt.

“From what the governor has said, it is clear that a script has been prepared to ensure that the outcome of this probe indicts the Yuguda administration,” he said.

But the incumbent governor said he would probe the immediate past administration because a lot of money that was paid into the coffers of the state could not be accounted for.

Meanwhile, trouble is here again for some ex-governors in Nigeria as FG is set to re-try them for corrupt practices while in office.

Those whose case will be reopened include embattled Senate President Bukola Saraki, factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff; and senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio.

Verizon 'agrees $5bn Yahoo deal'

Verizon ‘agrees $5bn Yahoo deal’

25/07/2016 7:30

US telecoms giant Verizon Communications is to buy Yahoo’s search and advertising operations for $5bn (£3.8bn), according to media reports.

The two firms were reported on Friday to be in exclusive talks over a possible deal.

US internet firm Yahoo announced in February that it was looking at “strategic alternatives” for its core internet business.

Verizon declined to comment on the reports.

A formal announcement is expected on Monday before US markets open for trading.

Over the last few years Yahoo has struggled to keep up with the changing internet advertising landscape, with some analysts arguing that it has failed to remain relevant in many of its core markets.

Chief executive Marissa Mayer, who took the helm in 2012, has made little progress in returning the company to profit.

Last week the firm reported a $440m loss in the second quarter, but said the board had made “great progress on strategic alternatives”.

The reported price tag for the deal is well below the firm’s $125bn market value at the height of the dot.com boom.

But BGC analyst Colin Gillis wrote recently: “We expect any offer in the range of $5-plus billion should be accepted by the Yahoo board to bring the process to a close.”

The US telecoms giant is expected to merge Yahoo with AOL, to create a digital group capable of taking on the likes of Google and Facebook.

Verizon bought AOL – another faded internet star -in a $4.4bn deal last year, which gave it ownership of the Huffington Post, Techcrunch, Engadget and other news sites.

Shortly afterwards, Verizon announced it would start combining data about its mobile network subscribers – which is tied to their handsets – with the tracking information already gathered by AOL’s sites.

By doing so it said it could deliver more “personalised” ads.

A host of other firms were reported to be interested in buying Yahoo’s core internet assets including AT&T, a consortium backed by legendary investor Warren Buffett and the owner of the Daily Mail.

In April, the firm shortlisted about 10 potential buyers.

Meet Millionaire Woman With World's Largest Natural Breasts(photos)

– Meet a woman who has held the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest natural breasts

– Each of her breasts weigh a staggering 30kg each and keep growing!

– Annie Hawkins-Turner has turned her assets into a successful business

Annie Hawkins-Turner, also known as Norma Stitz (a wordplay “enormous t**s”), has held the Guinness World Record for her unbelievably giant natural breasts since 1999.

The woman, rom Atlanta, Georgia, US, who has suffered from her large chest from adolescence now can call herself a millionaire as she turned her curse into a blessing.

A resourcefull mother-of-two has spoke on how her 102ZZZ-cup assets, which weigh about 30kg each and 137cm in length, brought her millions.

Norma Stitz has the world’s largest tits

However, not everything was so rosy when she was a teen — Annie was dubbed ‘whale boob girl’ and thought boys wanted to date her only because of her boobs.

She said: “When I was a teenager I struggled with the fact my breasts just kept growing and growing. Finally I was diagnosed with of gigantomastia, a condition that involves slow, progressive growth of breast tissue which is why my breasts continue to grow even today.”

Norma Stitz has the world’s largest tits

But in 1991 she met Allen Turner, an air force officer who was 20 years her senior, who made her embrace her body and made her believe she is beautiful no matter what.

Recalling the days Annie said: “To my shock I discovered Alan loved big women and thought my breasts were magnificent. Despite the age gap we got on really well. He boosted my confidence continually told me I was beautiful and accepted me and my kids.

After dating for five years the pair got married and Allen encouraged Annie to start making the most of her super-size breasts.

He encouraged me to send in some pictures to a specialist magazine a year after we met and I was inundated with requests. It was a magazine that featured white women and I was featured, breaking, I guess, another record.”

Since then her career thrived —  she set up a website and within months it had over a million of subscribers ready to pay for her photos and videos. Only in her first year she made made £40.000 (N15.604.715)

She cannot sleep on her back because the weight of assets could crush her, has to have sex on her side and has never breast fed her children to avoid accidental smothering.

Although doctors are worried about Annie’s health problems and advise her to have a breast reduction she carries on with her business of model and lecturer.

Explaining her position on the matter she said:“I don’t want to mess with nature. As my breasts grew the muscles in my back developed and supported them. I can only drive a 4×4 and need a larger airplane seat.

MOST READ FOR ALL:How Bendel Girls Battled In The Civil War Of 1967

...We checked Biafra’s use of chemical weapon
By Emmanuel Aziken, Political Editor
Erstwhile military governor of the Midwest Region and later governor of the equally defunct Bendel State, Brigadier-General Samuel Ogbemudia, was at the onset of the civil war, one of the highest ranking officers from the Midwest Region. Once the Biafran Army overran the Midwest Region, Ogbemudia was dispatched to Kaduna with a DC 3 plane to procure arms from Kaduna by Major-Gen. David Ejoor who held command of the Federal Forces in Benin.

However, in Kaduna, Ogbemudia was to his dismay only given 30 guns and some ammunition to fight the Biafran Army that had already taken control of the Midwest Region.
In this narration Ogbemudia told Vanguard of the subtle strategies and structures employed to defend the region including the valuable role of young Midwest girls in the liberation.
Ogbemudia, presently, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is the patron of the Edo Mass Movement, EMM, a body aiming to position a worthy successor to the outgoing governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Excerpts:
Without arms what did you do?
The girls were told to go to the Biafran troops and get for us some arms and ammunition. And everyone they brought, we paid for it. Remarkably, they did. There was one girl, I saw her a few months ago and she is now an old woman, she brought twelve rifles and about 20,000 bullets. I said to her, how did you get these? She said somebody organized a get together, so she attended and incidentally, the leader of the Biafran troops was interested in her.

So, she told the man, I don’t want any money from you, my brother wants to be a hunter and wants to kill elephants, so I need weapons and ammunition to do this. The young man said that is simple, he was a major in rank. So, he told her to bring a taxi, and it was in that taxi that they loaded the rifles and ammunition. So we started.

Exit from Benin
My wife was a policewoman, and whenever we wanted anything, she would dress up and pass the roadblock without any issue. The day I left Benin, she took me up to the village near Ekiadolor. I slept there because I had a relation and wanted to stay about two, three days there, and I told my relations ‘I don’t want anyone to know that I am here.’

They said no problem. Not quite fifteen minutes after, about eight persons came and greeted, ‘domo sir we won’t tell anybody,’ and they left. Not quite another twenty minutes, another group came and greeted, ‘we won’t tell anybody,’ so after about four different groups had come, I told my wife, this place is not safe, so I left for the next village.

A few days after in that village, I tried to get Lagos and the phones that were in that area were not working. I later found out that you could get to Owo via Ogbesse instead of the Owan road. So, I told my sister that she would have to go with me. She followed me, and we got to Egbeta after Okada and some soldiers came out from the bush and said halt! I raised my hands, and they said who are you? I gave a name.

One looked at me over and over and over. He said we won’t let you go, can you come and see our senior officer, and I asked what is the name of your senior officer? He said Chukwuka and that Chukwuka was my boy. I said to my sister that if I get to that place, then I am finished, I must find a way out. I had a pistol which the boy didn’t bother to find.

When he was in front, my sister was following him, and I pulled out my gun and looked at the ammunition inside and there were thirteen, and I said good, this is enough to get out, and I put it back. Then I walked straight up to him and his friend, they were two. They made one mistake, and they flung their rifle and held the sling, and they were walking.

If you are going to shoot somebody, you have to remove it from your shoulder, cock the gun and by which time if the person is a fast runner, he would have done about 50, 60 meters. The rest is now history. I got to Owo with my sister and from Owo Post Office, I phoned Bissalla, who was the Chief of Staff. Bisalla phoned Gowon, and they said I should come and so, I went to Lagos.

Arrival in Lagos
On arrival, I saw Gowon, I went to the Chief of Staff, I went to the head of the Intelligence who debriefed me, and Gowon told me that there was a committee for Midwest Liberation headed by Chief Udoji and that I should go and see them. So, I went. In the evening, the place was full. All Midwesterners were there and started asking me the story of how I left, and I told them that I would never tell them how I left and that it was sufficient that I was there with them.

Their conclusion was that I should go to the hospital for the doctor to look at me because I had lost weight and after that, come and prepare to go back to the Midwest. I told them, sorry, I have lost some weight in my body and that nothing is wrong with my spirit and that ‘I have come here to ask Gowon to give me troops to go and liberate the Midwest.’ They said how many troops do you want?
I said a minimum of 600. They asked whether I don’t want to go to the hospital? I said no, that there were people worse than myself in the Midwest and that unless the doctor would be willing to go there to take care of them, and that for me, my spirit was quite high and that they should not bother about what they saw in my flesh.

So, I told Gowon, and he approved. But the Chief of General Staff went to Gowon and told him, ‘you know Samuel (Ogbemudia) right from training that he could be an Ojukwu man and that if you give him 600 troops he could overrun all of us,’ and Gowon was taken in, and he told me, ‘we cannot find all the troops you want now, but I want you to go and join Murtula Mohammed who is already organized with some troops, and they are about to enter the Midwest.”

I said yes and so, I took a vehicle and straight to Ibadan, and when I got there, Obasanjo was there and I went to him and told him that I had been asked to go and join Murtala Mohammed and that I don’t have guns and ammunition.
Before he could say anything, I asked him, ‘where is your own gun,’ and he said it was inside in the office, and I said I will have it.

I asked what of the ammunition? He asked what was he going to use himself? And I retorted that I did not come for him to ask me questions, let me have all the ammunition that you have, and he packed them for me, and I took his gun and dashed for the Midwest.
Partnership with Murtala Mohammed
Eventually, I found myself from Sabongida-Ora to Ehor and after a meeting we decided on breaking into two- one group would go to Agbor and follow Agbor to Benin and another group would take Ehor straight to Benin. I knew all the routes back and forth. Murtala asked what I wanted to do? I said I needed the heavy guns, 101 recoilless and the 81 millimeter. He said ok, and I did what I had always taught in the Army training school, what they call predicted shooting.

Take a map, identify where you want the bomb to land, take the bearing and let the gun on that bearing, estimate the range and set the range on the gun. I did that. We were still a little after Ehor, and somebody told us that he saw Biafran troops somewhere not too far and that they were planning to occupy both sides of the road so that they could ambush us.

But one remarkable thing was that everybody we met sympathized with us and they didn’t like the Biafran soldiers. So, I took my map and said, let me drop some few bombs into that area and see whether we can scare them away. We worked out the bearing, the distance and set the gun, and I ordered them to fire. The bomb went straight through the roof and landed in the sitting room, killing about 35 Biafrans who were holding a conference. I think that was when their backbone was broken.

Use of Chemical Weapon
The other group had moved towards Agbor and they too had had some few successes before they arrived at Agbor. So, when we got to Eyaen, we saw smoke and the smell of the smoke gave indication that the opponent was using white phosphorus, so we reported to the headquarters that the Biafran troops were using chemical weapons and that they should immediately intercept them.

In the meantime, we were getting near to Oregbeni junction in Benin. It occurred to me that if the Biafrans were doing what they were supposed to do, that they would blow up Ikpoba Bridge, and then there won’t be a place for us to pass to enter Benin. I then took the decision to start ranging (shelling) areas around the bridge so that nobody can come near to prepare it for demolition.

When we came about four, five hours later, they told us that one of those who were priming the bridge for demolition was hit, and so the others ran away. That was how the bridge was saved.
But at Ikpoba Hill, we saw a lorry coming with some people inside, so the soldiers halted them and I said, ‘don’t shoot let us I identify all those that were inside the vehicle.’
It was when they came down that we found out that they put their weapons on the floor and were standing on it so that the police will let them pass. So, after they realized that we had gotten them, some of them said in Bini, ‘I am Bini, I am not Biafran.’ We found out that quite a number of them were boys who volunteered to fight along with them. We separated them and sent the rest to the headquarters for further interrogation.

So, when we arrived Ikpoba Hill, we broke into two and asked a group to go straight to Sapele Road and follow Sapele Road to ensure that there was no incursion from that end. Some moved to Sakpbonba Road, Ekenwan Road, and Siluko Road. Those who were sent to Sapele Road were ambushed opposite the General Hospital and the shooting lasted almost one hour and they killed quite a lot of the Biafran soldiers, and then they went to the prison and brought out Nzeogwu’s group who were detained there.
By the time we tried to stop them, they had done the harm that we were trying to prevent. Following that, we said that there was no need to go to Lagos, let us stop at Ore and make sure that Ore to Benin is safe, Owo to Benin is safe and that the Midwest is safe.
We stayed at Saint James’ opposite Agbado and made our headquarters there for two days. It was there I was appointed the temporary administrator and the permanent secretaries came to brief me.

Troops Arrest Suspected Supplier Of Fuel To Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army says its troops have arrested a suspected supplier of fuel to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno.

A statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by Army spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, said the suspect was arrested at Molai check point in the outskirt of Maiduguri at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

He added that the suspect was arrested with a truck loaded with 25 jerry cans of petrol and other goods cleverly covered in cartons.

Usman said preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect had for long engaged in supply of fuel and other goods to terrorists in Sambisa.

He said: “the Quick Response Force (QRF) of 251 Battalion, 7 Division Garrison on routine check arrested a truck loaded with 25 jerry cans of PMS and other goods.

“The PMS and other goods were cleverly covered and concealed in the truck.

“The driver of the vehicle, Muhammadu Adamu, claimed ignorance of the contents of the vehicle and called the owner of the goods, Tijjani Gambo to explain.

“He too denied supplying the terrorists’ fuel and other items. Rather he claimed to be a mere trader that supplies goods to customers in Damboa based on demand.

“However, preliminary investigation revealed that he has been sending PMS and other goods through the same route at regular intervals without an identifiable corresponding recipient in Damboa.

“Although investigations are still ongoing, it is suspected that it could be the means through which he had been supplying the terrorists with dire logistics in Sambisa forest.”

Usman said authorities in the region had banned the purchase and transportation of petrol in containers in Borno and its environs.

He said both suspects and the exhibits had been handed over to Joint Interrogation Centre for further investigation.

With this development, Salisu Yusuf is expected to seal a permanent deal to the job, as the technical adviser to the team is expected to be named.

Ambode Drums Support For Edo APC Guber Candidate, Obaseki

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday lauded his Edo State counterpart, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for his achievements in the last seven years, saying that it has impacted positively on not just the economy of the State but the country in general.

Ambode who spoke when he visited Governor Oshiomhole at the Government House, Benin, said he draws inspiration from Oshiomhole’s style of leadership to bring good governance to the people of the State.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos and Chairman, National Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (left); Mr. Godwin Obaseki, APC Gubernatorial candidate in Edo State and Governor Adams Oshiomhole during Governor Ambode’s visit to Edo State, Tuesday.

Governor Ambode who was recently appointed as the Chairman, All progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship Election slated for September 10, 2016, said, “On a personal note, I am very proud of all the things you have done for Edo State and even this country Nigeria, and I can say the few achievements I have actually attained in Lagos State were driven and inspired by the kind of energy you bring to governance and I am very proud to be associated with you and the government of Edo State.”

He said he was pleased and humbled to be saddled with the task of leading the APC campaign to retain the State, adding that continuity was germane to sustain the path already laid down by the present administration.

“I have come here this afternoon to accept physically the daunting task which has been laid upon me by our national party and appointing me as the chairman of the gubernatorial campaign committee of the gubernatorial election coming up in Edo State.

“I am very pleased and humbled by that appointment. And I have come here, firstly, to apologize for not being around on Saturday when the committee was inaugurated because of some exigencies, and to show my presence a few days after, and my commitment to ensure that our gubernatorial candidate not only wins the election, but he is able to show his footprints just like what the present governor has done, that the APC and the change mantra is really in totality about what we want governance to be in Nigeria,” he said.

Governor Ambode further added, “I like to also say that what we have ahead of us as a party, that is, APC, is beyond ordinary election. We need to take Nigeria out of its doldrums, and the only party that can do that is APC, of which we are happy to be aligned with your state and other progressive states in the country. And that is why we are here as brothers, we offer ourselves and we will continue to also send the same message across board across all the progressive states.”

He said that Lagos State would explore the opportunities available to develop a major commerce and economic relationship with Edo State as soon as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Mr Godwin Obaseki emerges as Governor of Edo State, expressing optimism that the partnership would ensure that Edo develops at a faster pace.

He said, “What I can promise your Excellency is that we have decided that we will bring the whole machinery of the Lagos model to Edo State. In addition to that, we believe strongly that Edo State has the potential of becoming a giant in Africa also, and this relationship is beyond the fact that it is historic, we also want to use this platform of this campaign to start a major paradigm shift in terms of economic and political relationship between Edo State and Lagos State.

“If we are to look deeply, we believe strongly in the potential of Edo State which actually lies in the symbolic relationship that it can have with Lagos.

And that is why I am personally taking this responsibility of being the campaign chairman to ensure that beyond the campaign and the success of the election, a major commerce and economic relationship commences immediately with the in-coming governor, and also to let us actually start to have bilateral economic and political relations that will be of benefit to the people of Edo State, firstly, and then to the improvement of the economic growth of Edo State.”

On his part, Governor Oshiomhole commended the Lagos Governor for taking his assignment as the Chairman, APC National Campaign Council for Edo State governorship election very seriously.

He said, “For us in Edo, it is clear that you have taken this assignment seriously. It is one thing to accept an assignment, but the passion with which you have accepted it, and to the extent to which you are determined to go to ensure that we do everything we need to do to continue to retain the governance of this state.

“Under your leadership, I have no doubt. We couldn’t have had a better campaign organization. So, I thank you for that.”

Oshiomhole who introduced the Governorship candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his running mate, Mr Philip Shaibu to Governor Ambode said, “We have a credible messenger that you are going to be able to help us to market, and we also have a compelling message to put across to Edo State. And we believe the election will be won on the basis of the pedigree of the political parties, the pedigree of the individual and what the two parties have to show to the people.”

Trump Staffer Apologizes For Obama Quotes In Melania Speech

Melania Trump, wife of presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, addresses delegates on the first day of the Republican National Convention on July 18, 2016 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The Republican Party opened its national convention, kicking off a four-day political jamboree that will anoint billionaire Donald Trump as its presidential nominee. / AFP PHOTO / Robyn BECK

A Trump staffer apologized Wednesday for using remarks by Michelle Obama in a speech delivered by Melania Trump at the Republican National Convention that ignited a deeply embarrassing plagiarism row.

The speech from the ex-model, watched by millions on television on Monday night, amounted to a nightmarish start for the convention and subjected her husband’s presidential campaign to withering scrutiny.

Melania Trump had “always liked” the Democratic first lady and had “read me some passages from Mrs Obama’s speech” as examples of what she wanted to tell the convention, said staffer Meredith McIver.

“I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech.

“I did not check Mrs Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused,” she said in a statement released by the Trump campaign. “No harm was meant.”

McIver said Trump had refused to accept her resignation, saying that “people make innocent mistakes,” according to her statement.

“I apologize for the confusion and hysteria my mistake has caused,” said McIver, who was identified as an in-house staff writer from the Trump Organization.

“I personally admire the way Mr Trump has handled this situation and I am grateful for his understanding.”

Trump took to Twitter Wednesday to comment on the swirling controversy, saying: “Good news is Melania’s speech got more publicity than any in the history of politics especially if you believe that all press is good press!”

He also took a swipe at the media, which he has repeatedly alleged is biased against him and favors Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who herself has recently been mired in an email scandal.

“The media is spending more time doing a forensic analysis of Melania’s speech than the FBI spent on Hillary’s emails,” he wrote.

Michelle Obama, a Harvard-educated lawyer, has high approval ratings across the country and in Melania’s home city has been embraced in New York fashion circles for her sense of style and elegance.

With millions watching on television, the Slovenia-born former model delivered an eloquent and seemingly heartfelt defense of her husband.

“Donald is, and always has been, an amazing leader,” said the 46-year-old. “Now, he will go to work for you.”

Despite the unmistakable similarities to remarks given by Michelle Obama at the 2008 Democratic convention, the Trump campaign initially denied any wrongdoing, then made a tacit admission before attempting to insulate Melania, adding to a picture of a campaign in chaos.

But at the convention itself, many Republicans were unperturbed, with delegates and party members praising Melania for her grace and poise in delivering a speech in what is thought to be her fifth language.

Garba is in police custody for alleged rape.

Buhari, Osinbajo Saying Rubbish; Bombings Will Continue - Ultimate Warriors Of Niger Delta

A new militant group, the Ultimate Warriors of Niger Delta, has warned that bombing of oil installations in the region will not cease.

The militant group, also described the alleged double speak by the federal government on dialogue with the people of the region as absurd.

A statement issued by the group on Saturday also asked the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to stop parading itself as leader of the militant groups.

It reads: “We have said it before that we have nothing to lose on the bombing of oil pipelines because our mission is to ground the oil economy if our demands are not met. We have said we are doing what we are doing to prod the government to renegotiate the control of our oil resources and other related matters.

“We have watched with chagrin the recent utterance by the President (Muhammadu Buhari) and the Vice President (Yemi Osinbajo) and all we see in them are double standard and lips service to the demand of the groups as its concerns the Niger Delta question and that is why all of our units and affiliates have not fully heeded to our ceasefire.

“Today, the president will say something, tomorrow his deputy and some of their dishonest and selfish lieutenants will contradict him and that only shows how confused and unserious the government is about the problems and how to deal with them.”

EFCC Seizes Gov. Fayose's Properties In Lagos

Six choice properties allegedly acquired by Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, using stolen public funds, have been seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The duplexes, estimated at N1.350billion, include four in Lagos and two in Abuja.

The properties were allegedly acquired for the governor by his associate, Abiodun Agbele and sister, Mrs. Moji Ladeji.

This is just as Mrs. Ladeji has approached the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti, laying claim to one of the Abuja duplexes.

According to credible sources, the anti-graft agency believes that the properties were bought with public funds including the N1.219billion slush fund from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) handed over to Fayose by former Minister of Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro, and kick-back from contractors.

Part of the slush funds came from the N4.745billion which was paid into Obanikoro’s company, Sylva Mcnamara by the ONSA for the 2014 governorship poll in the state.

The properties located and marked by operatives of the EFCC are 44, Osun Crescent and 32, Yedseram Street in Maitama, Abuja; and houses 3, 4, 6, and 9 in Plot 100, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

EFCC sources said the funds were wired to pay for the duplexes.

While the duplex on Osun Crescent was allegedly bought for N200million from Skye Bank Plc, the one located in Yedseram Street was purchased for N270million from a businessman, Rabi Kundili.

All the houses in Lagos were paid for by Agbele, the detained associate of the governor, who is currently under investigation.

Agbele allegedly paid over N880 million for the Lagos properties.

Sources said the duplexes were “acquired within 180 days in office by Fayose” using De-Privateer Limited, a company owned by Agbele.

The EFCC seized the properties on the strength of the provisions of sections 28 and 34 of the EFCC (Establishment Act) 2004 and Section 13(1) of the Federal High Court Act, 2004 which empowers the anti-graft agency to invoke Interim Assets Forfeiture Clause.

“Section 28 of the EFCC Act reads: ‘Where a person is arrested for an offence under this Act, the Commission shall immediately trace and attach all the assets and properties of the person acquired as a result of such economic or financial crime and shall thereafter cause to be obtained an interim attachment order from the Court’.

Section 13 of the Federal High Court Act reads in part: “The Court may grant an injunction or appoint a receiver by an interlocutory order in all cases in which it appears to the Court to be just or convenient so to do.

(2) “Any such order may be made either unconditionally or on such terms and conditions as the Court thinks just”.

APC Governors Urge Support For Buhari, Dialogue With Herdsmen

A cross section of APC Governors and party Chieftains, during the flag off campaign for APC gubernatorial candidate, Godwin Obaseki in Edo State

• Party Flags Off Obaseki’s Campaigns

Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis Progressives Governors Forum have called on Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari to guide the country through hard times.

Also, the party yesterday, officially presented its governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki, for the September 10 governorship election in Edo State, during which the national chairman, Chief John Oyegun, called for a continuation of the developmental strides of the outgoing governor Adams Oshiomhole.

The governors resolved to continue with Forum’s lecture series, saying, “our next lecture will be held in Kaduna.”

Rising from their meeting in Benin City, Edo State capital, yesterday, the governors expressed optimism that things would get better for the country.

They enjoined governors in various states where there have been clashes between the people and suspected Fulani herdsmen to meet with the herdsmen with a view to stemming the occurrences.

Speaking to journalists on behalf of the Forum, Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said the governors also discussed the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States.

He said: “We are here to look into the coming gubernatorial election in Edo State and have resolved to support our candidate, Godwin Obaseki and we have also set up a Campaign Council comprising former governors just to make sure that Edo people do not go back to the days of darkness

“We also deliberated on the issues of Fulani herdsmen and the crisis we have had as a result of some of their activities and we have requested that all governors should engage the Fulanis in their areas with a view to finding a lasting solution and avoid further clashes from now henceforth.

“We also looked at the issue of Ondo election and we have resolved to ensure that our party comes up with a credible candidate for the election that will give the party victory; a committee has been set up to look into Ondo and ensure victory for the party.”

Speaking during the rally, Oyegun said it was heart warming that Edo state is not among the 27 states of the federation that are not able to pay salaries, attributing it to the work done by Oshiomhole and Obaseki, who he said has been the chairman of the state Economic Management Team for the past seven and a half years.‎Oyegun who spoke at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium venue of the event said the only true way to appreciate the administration’s development stride is to vote in the party’s candidate.

LOUD WHISPERS Femi Vs Falz : A Falana Of Confusion

As I watched the BET Awards last night with Falz the Bahd Guy the handsome son of the increasingly confusing legal luminary doing Nigeria proud in far away America, my thoughts go back to his father. This once upon a time social crusader has been anything but very sound in his recent utterances. From his recent statement that should Governor Ayo Fayose refuse to resign, the Federal Government should sack him.

I refuse to believe that this kind of motor park statement or idea could emanate from the highly respected legal eagle. I still doubt he could have made the statement but if it is true then my initial suspicions of loss of focus will now be confirmed. Mr Falana’s derail from his Olympian heights could easily be traced to his electoral misfortunes which to my mind would have thrown him into the pits of self denial with him not taking the rejection very well. Ever since and anybody has been a target for his increasignly funny attacks.

The former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala through the Edo State Governor and one of my favourite people ever since he married that his wife down to our amiable President and now Fayose have been the receipients of his attention. He has muted his ideological positions and continued to embarrassingly throw himself out there stark naked with highly illogical positions. Well sha for me, anytime I remember the Falana name, I think of Falz the bad guy. He is definitely a more competent alternative to his greying father whose days as a major crusader for social justice have long since been over. Maybe he should join his son as a back up singer. He just may rediscover himself as a very effective disc jockey. I tire.

Dino Malaye  to beat Remi TinubuShey I have been saying it. This Dino really needs some kind of psychiatric evaluation or how do you explain a sitting senator of the Federal Republic allegedly threatening to beat up the quintessential representative of African womanhood in all its dignity, my dear mummy Remi Tinubu. I have read it in all the blogs and newspapers and even the Jagaban himself through his spokesperson have responded daring Dino and assuring him that he just may have come to the end of his political career with this recent outpouring. Look Asiwaju, do not bother yourself and tell mummy that this is just the ‘ranting of an ant’. Dino can not do anything, can he even fight? Is it by taking picture on social media and walking around like a retired but failed wrestler that is to fight? If fight is hungering him, why does he not go and join the Army and fight against Boko Haram or better still join the Niger Delta Avengers and see real fight? Is it to be threatening  a woman who I heard only admonished him on his utterances in the hallowed halls of the National Assembly that will make you a senator? Please I am ready to represent mummy in this fight and have begun training as I now challenge you Senator Melaye to a fight to defend the honour of my mummy. The venue must be in Lagos and it must be boxing with no restrictions as I am ready to show you just how we fight in Shomolu. What is it? Are you the only senator in the country. Asiwaju, kindly note this my support as I expect to be rewarded if I come out of this fight alive. Nothing is free o. Just give me small plot of land in Oniru near the Obas Palace and I swear the senator will not be recognised the next time he appears at the Chambers. My dear Senate President, are you sure this is not a liability in your camp? I just dey ask o.….. And she was killedThe news was heartbreaking. A Redeemed pastor was cut down simply because she was preaching. That this remains one of the saddest news that we all have heard in a while cannot be contested. But what is this country turning into? Are we turning ourselves into a family of babarians-where there is no respect for culture, diversity and the rule of law? Daily, we are assailed with all sorts of depravity– old men raping babies, ritualist going ahead with their business as if it is a legitimate career with no fear. I will drop the blame on our religious institutions. The emphasis on prosperity and private jets have pushed us into this morass where we have all but lost the true essence of life. This blame is on all sides not just the Christian divide but also the Muslim side of it and even herbalists. We have all but lost our moral compass as a nation or how can you explain this kind of dastardly act? People being killed and beheaded over religion. Our institutions must all but redefine themselves and refocus on what our founders both Jesus Christ and Mohammed and sorry including Orunmila or any other deity we all collectively worship preached. My sincere condolences go to the direct family of the deceased even as I pray that they be granted the fortitude to bear this loss which I am sure is irreplaceable. My condolences will not go to the Redeemed Church as an institution for in my heart they share this blame. That will be story for another day. Today, let us share this loss.

President Buhari : please pardon them This is not the kind of plea the PDP ‘jokers’ went to beg the Ooni of Ife on behalf of Iyiola Omisore . Sir, you should have seen the picture. The old men went flat on their belly prostrating to the highly respected monarch to intervene and get their man released. I laughed. Thankfully, the man has come out to disown them labeling them as jesters which is what they really are. But seriously, this plea is for my friends Saraki and Ekweramndu. If for nothing else, I beg as a result of the effect the continued pursuit of this case will have on our democracy. Please sir, I am on my knees or should I go down like the PDP people to beg. My plea is not based on any fact but purely on an emotional ground. Saraki especially for the past one year has been in and out of one court room after the order not allowing him concentrate on his principal duties as our Senate President. I know if not for pride and people like Malaye egging them on, things would have been different in their thinking and approach to all these issues that has continued to affect your relationships with them. Like you always say, Nigeria is our country and we have no other country and we must all work very hard in keeping it united, kindly do not allow this issue to deteriorate to the point where we would need a referendum on freezing your account or not. This is just a gentle plea from a non-partisan Nigerian and all-round good boy to our leader who has shown an unquenchable resolve to return us as a country to the path of greatness. Abeg no vex sir, may Allah continue to bless you, protect your cows and give you a golden reign as you contemplate this request. And as for Saraki and Ekweremandu, you too stop looking for trouble and please send a basket of fruits to the Villa immediately as penance. Na only advice I can give at this juncture. That Niger Delta Avengers VideoI saw the video. It was scary and the man in it tried his very best to be as scary as he could be. He threatened everybody and anybody within the Nigerian establishment and even promised to start dealing with the President’s immediate family. This thing is getting too serious o. But what exactly are their grievances? Why all this violence especially after their own kinsman just left power? This our country sef, once one tribe control the centre the other tribes will form militant group and start fighting. Today Boko Haram is quietening down and now the Avengers are bombing and shooting videos. Can we not just have peace in this land? Me I am getting tired of all this whahala o. Everyday bombing, kidnapping, killings and maiming and instead of us to face these issues, Dino is going around threatening to beat up women. Let us have referendum o; let us ask ourselves pertinent questions about our national cohesion- should Dino Malaye be deported or not? Oya voting has started.Ghana must go – the movieI have never recommended a movie on this page but I will be doing a great disservice to the producers of this movie if I just watch and keep shut. This was magic on screen. It was my belated birthday outing, remember LASTMA had made sure that I spent my last birthday with them drinking kparaga at their compound after impounding my car. So during the holidays I decided to take my brood to the cinemas. As a true Nigerian I decided to watch a local movie instead of the assortment of Hollywood offerings on display. My people, this movie was ‘laugh a minute’. They tried o, do not let me say much before it will start to look like I am related to them. Just go watch, it is a must-see. Thank you.

APC Affirms Obaseki's Candidacy For Gubernatorial Poll

Godwin Obaseki

• Philip Shaibu emerges running mate

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed Godwin Obaseki as the party’s standard bearer for the September 10, 2016 governorship election in Edo State.

In a statement yesterday by the party’s National Secretary Mai Mala Bubi after taking delivery of the report from its Appeal Committee, the NWC maintained that the June 18, 2016 primary that produced Obaseki was valid, overruling the protests from Kenneth Imansuagbon and Chris Ogiemwonyi who also participated in the exercise.

The Opeyemi Bamidele-led three-man appeal committee had on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 submitted its report to the party’s secretariat in Abuja, saying, “the issues raised were not compelling as to warrant the cancellation of the primary election. Hence the call on all APC stakeholders in Edo State to put the party’s interest over and above personal interests in ensuring a speedy and amicable reconciliation.”

Also, the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun while congratulating Obaseki on his emergence, lauded the Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari-led seven-man Election Committee for successfully conducting a “very transparent, free, fair and credible” primary.”

He, therefore, called on all stakeholders to “unite as a strong political fighting force behind the candidature of Godwin Obaseki for a landslide victory at the poll.

“The request by the aspirants was that the Edo State APC governorship primary should be transparent, free, fair and credible. This, the party achieved creditably during the primary,” he added.

Meanwhile, former National Association of Nigerian Students president and sitting member of the House of the Representatives, Philip Shaibu, has been nominated as deputy governorship candidate

Bello Denies Purchasing N1bn Vehicles For Appointees

Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, yesterday refuted an online publication alleging that he spent N1 billion to purchase vehicles for his political appointees in the midst of dwindling economy.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity, Malam Abdulkarim Abdulmalik, said the allegation, which was reportedly made by the Audu/Faleke political organization, was “false and malicious.”

"For avoidance of doubt, Governor Bello has not bought any vehicle for political appointees as erroneously stated by the Audu/ Faleke political organisation.

"The vehicle that the chief of staff to the governor is using is his personal car and was not bought by the government for him.

"It is, therefore, pertinent to say that all the appointees of the governor are yet to be given official vehicles, and those who have were just using the old vehicles acquired and used by the immediate past government in the state.

"The vehicles purchased by local government councils were bought on loan, which is to be paid in 12 months,” the statement said.

Bin Laden's Son Threatens Revenge For Father's Assassination

Osama bin Laden

The son of slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has threatened revenge against the U.S. for assassinating his father, according to an audio message posted online.

Hamza bin Laden promised to continue the global militant group’s fight against theU.S. and its allies in the 21-minute speech entitled “We Are All Osama,” according to the SITE Intelligence Group.

“We will continue striking you and targeting you in your country and abroad in response to your oppression of the people of Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia and the rest of the Muslim lands that did not survive your oppression,” Hamza said.

“As for the revenge by the Islamic nation for Sheikh Osama, may Allah have mercy on him, it is not revenge for Osama the person but it is revenge for those who defended Islam.”

Osama bin Laden was killed at his Pakistani hideout by U.S. commandos in 2011 in a major blow to the militant group which carried out the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Documents recovered from bin Laden’s compound and published by the U.S. last year alleged that his aides tried to reunite the militant leader with Hamza, who had been held under house arrest in Iran.

Hamza, now in his mid-twenties, was at his father’s side in Afghanistan before the 9/11 attacks and spent time with him in Pakistan after the U.S.-led invasion pushed much of al Qaeda’s senior leadership there, according to the Brookings Institution.

Introduced by the organisation’s new chief Ayman al-Zawahiri in an audio message last year, Hamza provides a younger voice for the group whose ageing leaders have struggled to inspire militants around the world galvanized by Islamic State.

“Hamza provides a new face for al Qaeda, one that directly connects to the group’s founder. He is an articulate and dangerous enemy,” according to Bruce Riedel of Brookings.

Niger Delta Militants Shows Their Real Faces, Issue Shocking Threats

Niger Delta militants show their real faces, issue shocking threats

10/07/2016 10:51

– Niger Delta militant group announces the end of cease fire with the Nigerian government

– The group threatens to show Nigeria the deadliest side of the militancy

The Niger Delta Red Squad has threatened to teach Nigeria lessons through their next attacks on government, oil facilities.

The militant group operating from the Ohaji Egbema axis of Imo state warned the Imo state government of the ending of their two weeks cease fire, saying that the next phase of their operation would take the state by storm.

The group in a statement issued through their Facebook account alerted that the state and Nigeria will be shocked by their next attack.

The Squad earlier said their activities were against the excessive use and marginalisation of the oil bearing communities in the state,

The statement reads: “Our two weeks cease fire is almost coming to an end, and then we will start full operations. Imo state and Nigeria will be shocked at what we are going to do in our forthcoming attacks.”

The militants appeared especially irritated by comments made to the journalists by the Brigade Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze in Imo state, Brigadier- General Kay Niger Delta Red Devil declares Biafra avengers Ishyaku, while they did not specify the exact statement that got their attention.

“Since the Brigade Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, thinks he can talk to media, let him wait for us at Owerri, we will teach Imo State lessons they will never forget as soon as our two weeks cease-fire elapses. Rochas Okorocha and Army General Ishyaku should get ready. We are coming,” the group added.

Earlier Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta has unveiled an ultimatum to the government of Muhammadu Buhari to commence peace talks or face consequences.

The Federal government had previously confirmed that a cease-fire agreement had been reached with the militant group, which had helped restore oil output from around one million barrels a day to close to two million barrels a day.

Shocking! RCCG Pastor's Wife Murdered (photo)

A pastor’s wife was allegedly hacked to death while she went out to preach the gospel

Late Mrs Eunice Elisha

According to reports, a pastor’s wife met with her untimely death at the hands of assailants yesterday, July 9.

42-year-old Eunice Elisha, who was also a deaconess at the Divine Touch parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Old NEPA Road, Phase 4, Kubwa, had gone out to evangelize along Gbazango-West area of Kubwa, when she was hacked to death by unknown assailants suspected to be extremists.

The mother of 7 was reportedly cut in the neck and stabbed in the stomach and was left in a pool of her blood. Her bible, megaphone and mobile phone were found on the floor beside her body.

Speaking to reporters, her husband Olawale Elisha, who is also a pastor at the RCCG, had this to say:

“My wife always went out early in the morning for ‘Morning Cry’ (evangelism). There was a particular day she went out and she told me that there was a mosque at the back where they commented about what she said. So I just cautioned her. This morning (Saturday), she went out. Two of my boys are footballers, thus, they went to the football pitch to play. And when they came back, they told me that they heard some footballers saying that some hoodlums had butchered a woman who was preaching early this morning.

Late Mrs Eunice Elisha

When I heard this, wearing only a pair of shorts, we walked towards the area my son had said the incident occurred; we didn’t see anybody but we saw blood on the ground. I asked a policeman around and he said it was true but that they had taken the body to Phase 4 Police Station. I went to the police station with my children and when we got there, I saw the lifeless body of my wife at the back of a police van. She was later taken to a mortuary. My wife was so committed to anything that is of God. She was a reckless giver to God’s work.

She rarely missed any programme in the church. We have seven children. I see her as a martyr and she died for Christ and whether the people are caught or not, they should forgive them. My prayer is that if they can accept Christ, that will be a gain to Christ.”

According to the FCT police command, some suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing.

Prominent Black Lives Matter Activist Arrested

Police arrest activist DeRay McKesson during a protest along Airline Highway, a major road that passes in front of the Baton Rouge Police Department headquarters Saturday, July 9, 2016, in Baton Rouge, La. Protesters angry over the fatal shooting of Alton Sterling by two white Baton Rouge police officers rallied Saturday at the convenience store where he was shot, in front of the city’s police department and at the state Capitol for another day of demonstrations. AP Photo/Max Becherer

A prominent Black Lives Matter activist livestreamed his own arrest at a late Saturday protest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, US media reported, as tensions rise between US police and racial minority groups.

The demonstration was one of several in US cities following the death of two African-American men shot dead by white police officers, their dying moments captured in shocking video footage that went viral online.

One of those killed was Alton Sterling, shot dead by a police officer in Baton Rouge, in the southern state of Louisiana.

Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson traveled to Baton Rouge for the protest, and was walking on the side of a road livestreaming the demonstration on Periscope.

“Police have been provocateurs all night,” he says in the video. “We aren’t blocking the street or anything.”

“No justice, no peace, no racist police!” activists chant, as police cruisers follow the group.

Then suddenly the video is interrupted. “City Police. You’re under arrest – don’t fight me,” a voice says.

Another activist grabs the phone and continues the video, asking police why McKesson was detained.

Pictures on social media show McKesson with his hands behind his back being taken away by police.

A Louisiana state police officer told a reporter with The Advocate, a Baton Rouge publication, that McKesson was arrested because he had been blocking the road – even though in his video McKesson said there was no sidewalk on the road.

“We welcome the protests,” the officer told The Advocate in a video posted online. “We wouldn’t arrest people who are quietly protesting off the roadway.”

Two activists who were witnesses told The Washington Post that it was a physically violent arrest.

“He was clearly targeted,” said activist Brittany Packnett told the Post.

Local media said some 30 people where arrested in the Baton Rouge protests.

Hundreds of people marched late Saturday in several US cities protesting police abuses.

In St. Paul, Minnesota, several hundred protesters blocked a highway intersection for about three hours and hurled rocks and bottles at police, who were equipped with helmets, clubs and gas masks.

The officers used smoke grenades, pepper spray and tear gas to break up the crowd, and around midnight arrested protesters who refused to move.

KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY ASUU STRIKE: An Appeal To Kogi State Government And The Leadership Of ASUU

With all humility and due respect I write amidst sorrow and unquantifiable volume of tears to appeal to His excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the executive Governor of Kogi State to on the side of the state government engage the Leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in a peaceful and holistic dialogue to end the ongoing Three (3) Months old ASUU strike which has caused a lot of harrowing implications on the innocent Students and the entire University system.

I acknowledge the efforts of the government especially with the payment of Four out of the Five months salary arrears which was the most pressing issue amidst other demands as at the time the industrial action was declared. We note with dismay that as it is , the whole issue has become a matter of "Ego" and seemingly battle for "Primacy" with the government having to bank on its efforts and ASUU on the other side demanding for further efforts as it is not enough to make part payment  and order for resumption as if other demands are of no relevance couple with the Letter of Appeal cum "No Work, No pay" Warning.

This appeal is in good fate and with  all sense of responsibility to at least reassure all concerned parties of the neutrality of Student Leaders under the aegis of the Students Union Government (SUG)in collaboration with the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) both of Kogi State University Anyigba chapter in the mediatory roles played so far. More painful is the fact that as at the time the strike was declared examination was expected or scheduled to start in less than three (3) days to come. Sitting down to analyze the implications of the action raises a moral question which we are all  expected to answer subjectively (I.e as it appears to us individually).

For public knowledge let Me state that with pity on us that the  implications of the 'No pay, No Works' action includes delay in the mobilization of Students for the 2016 Batch A compulsory National Youth Service (NYSC) as the result coalition of the 2014/2015 graduates is put on hold, delay in Law School mobilization is also on hold still because of the earlier reason, delay in the completion of the 2015/2016 academic calendar, exposition of students to social vices, Low ranking of the University and summarily total disbalancing of the University system. Like we have severally said, it is not our interest to know who is right or wrong among the two worrying parties but rather we are most concerned about the plight of our fellow students which is the immediate calling off of the ongoing strike and an end to the seemingly perennial Strike action.

We are therefore calling on Government and ASUU to come to an understanding with each other  to this effect for the sake of the students, our future and our image as a state known for academic excellence. Dialogue remains the best solution. And if we must be frank with each other if this continues the shame will be for all of us either as a Government functionary, Lecturer, Student or a stake holder in the state as it will be a clear indication that while we are enjoying the fruits borne out of the struggle of our past leaders we have refused to help uplift our glory. We should want to believe that there is no political or ethnic sentiments on this matter as such will only lead us all astray and God Almighty will never forgive whoever may be involved regardless of status.

Kogi State University is ours and we must put aside all our differences and reconcile amicably in the spirit of oneness and patriotism or else peace will be far from us even in death. We are the Leaders of tomorrow and whoever in their various comfort zones mortgage our future is heading towards a shameful ending. To you His excellency sir,  your emergence as the Governor of Kogi State has so much been described as divinely and as such your loyalty in totality goes to Almighty God (Ohomorihi) , and as confirmed by both holy scriptures the voice of the people is the Voice God . Therefore, please treat this issue as a servant even as you are the number one  citizen of the state at least for the interest of we the students who forms a great portion of Youths that ensured your victory  and God Almighty will widen your horizon

To our Tutors (Lecturers), your responsibilities as lectures involves research and community service, therefore for the sake of us the students who are your children and our suffering parents embrace a peaceful and sincere approach and call us back to school. Please Ego should be shifted aside and if truly your struggles is for the system, Rome was not built in a day and as such a different measure should be adopted for the struggle and we be allowed to have uninterrupted academic sessions.

We should remember that if the system is right and there are no people to appreciate it with right frame of minds no goal will be achieved and continuing staying at home of students when they are supposed to be in school may affect their lives negatively which at the end will be in contrary to the aim of tertiary education. We ate quite aware of how much how the Union has in the past conceded but then as it is we believe with the gradual calling on government like the Dean Students Affairs (Dr S.O Usman) did sometimes ago in several media platforms will do us more good than bad. To fellow Students of Kogi State University, I have several read with mixed feelings your calls for protest and accusation on my humble self and my very  good friend Comrade Shaibu Philip Omepa (SUG President) as regards being bought over by Government. This is totally untrue. As your leaders, as much as we are  committed towards serving you better remember we must do this within the dictates of the law(s). Please accept my appeal for your patience as we see an end to all of this soonest. Best regards!
ABDULMALIK HADI ADINOYI.
NAKOSS PRESIDENT K.S.U ANYIGBA.
