5 Nigeria Girls Who Redefined The Good Girl Gone Bad Image

1.Tiwa Savage: We all first fell head on heels in love with Tiwa with her Kele Kele love song, she portrayed the no nonsense yet lovelorn kinda girl, setting the stage for sexiness in all nigerian female artiste video..we all saw the ‘sexiness’ in leotards right? Then she did’ Ife wa gbono‘ and some other songs, stamping her foot down as a lover/girl next day artiste. Realizing just how much deeply rooted her love is in our hearts, she switched things up again, letting us know she is queen and has the power to subtly yet powerfully do that. Strutting and flaunting her perfectly ‘Lit’ body, Tiwa dropped wanted, and in came several mouth staying wide open with a prominently dumb look sitting on several of the faces. My jaw dropped out of sheer surprise and happiness when I saw this video. Tiwa cuts across as the quintessential ‘ Good girl ‘, sexy and even sexual when the need be, a devout mom (grand introduction of Jamil), and the perfect artiste who maintains an impeccable public image. However, Tiwa has also created the ultimate version of herself, working extra hard to maintain the most impeachable version of Tiwa she can ever be. Mama knows the game and has totally redefined the good girl gone bad image.

2. Simi : Ultimate good girl. Even her soft, ear tickling voice stands in the way of taking her entirely serious. Yes, we all know she has the kind of voice that can put a drugged out person to sleep, but guess what, Simi, too can be baaaaaaaaaad without lifting an eyebrow. Recall her song, Open and Close, yes, female thugs crashing a party and taking over the posh event. Simi, was the ultimate bad girl in the video, donning a multi colored wig with cut up clothes reminiscent of the only one in a female cult group opportuned to study up to the primary school level. Yes, she owned that song but her new song, ‘Love Don’t Care’ is the one song that totally nailed her ability to be good but still embody a little ‘ Baddness ‘ in her. With her infectious voice, which gives a sugary pop confections, barely there outfit and  her alluring persona, has her redefining the good girl gone bad image.

3. Chidinma: Ever since she came unto the scene, this petite firebomb has always been perceived a good girl with so many people advocating that she dumps the good girl image and embrace the other already. And yes, I think she did in one of her song, putting on a red wig or something but quickly shut that side out completely, embracing her other image and owning it. However, with the many controversies and kissing picnics, she seems to love to take every now and then with superman himself( Ololufe),she made it known that she gat some bad in her as well. Oh and not forgetten her now famous ‘Emi ni baller’ video where she exuded a true diva. Chidinma did not need to perform deep and intensely offensive oral sex on screen and the stage to win the hearts of millions.

4. Niyola : For years, Niyola, had put me in a drowsy state I kind of did not want to wake up from. Mama, knows her onion when it comes to doing songs which makes your heart cry itself to sleep and then have them all jerked up and ready to explode should you take it for granted. From her Toh Bad to Go On videos, Niyola, showed both sides of her image and nailed it, but then ‘Never Gon’ Stop’ dropped and it was a hard floor stomping kinda visual. Niyola was completely in control and exuded the confidence of a sexully self aware being who was no longer scared of what the world might think of her. She with her sweet voice and keri Hilson/Rihanna portrayals defined the title itself.

5. Niniola: She switch from a good girl gone bad image in her first video Ibadi. At first, we could see Nini, sitting in the club, portraying an attractive but shy and alone girl looking lost, when suddenly she jumps out of that image showing off her va va voom bod and killer moves. In came Soke , we again saw the somewhat good girl/bad girl persona with her playing a local food vendor dating a street boy . She could be the groovy and partying type of girl but still maintains the ‘good wife’ qualities.Nini, merged a good girl/bad girl image in this video and owned every act in it. This exoctic beauty laddled with her smoky voice and sexy body, is one of the few female artistes in the industry who redefined the good girl gone bad image.

A Gorilla Was Shot And Killed In Cincinnati Zoo In Ohio Yesterday After Dragging Around A 4-year Old Boy Who Had Entered Its Enclosure

The gorilla called Harambe was shot after zookeepers decided a tranquilizer dart would be too slow to take effect. This footage, recorded by a family member of the person who posted it, Amber Soler shows the gorilla dragging the boy around.

Two female gorillas were taken out immediately after the boy fell, but the third gorilla, Harambe, remained in the yard. The zoo’s Dangerous Animal Response Team responded to what the zoo called a “life-threatening situation” and made the “difficult decision” to kill the gorilla.
Amber Soler who shared the video wrote on Facebook,

“So this actually happened while my Mom and several other family members were right there at the gorilla exhibit.”

“The news has been using the video they took on their phones. This video gives me serious anxiety. I can’t even imagine how scary it must have been to witness. Sad that the gorilla had to be put down, but I’m glad the child survived and I hope he makes a full recovery. #cincinnatizoo #gorilla #harambe.”

How To Deal With Sexual Assault And Rape

How to Deal with Sexual Assault and Rape (Dedicated to those who have taken back their lives after this great injustice against them)

Hello jarahgisters!!! The world we live in today is not as safe as we want it to be. More so in our country, Nigeria.

Violent crimes have existed since the dawn of time. Men have had to deal with maniacs, psychos, murderers, rapists, armed robbers, thieves, etc since time immemorial. In fact, many are of the opinion that eviland crime is a basic human instinct for survival. However, awkward that may sound, time has proven that there will always be crime and evil in every human society. However, the perpetrators of these heinous crimes and evil can be checked and the actsthemselves can be controlled to its barest minimum in a functional society. Most modern societies have found means to checkmate crime through the use ofstandard and reliable policing that even includes civilian watch and arrest, public sensitisation, mass empowerment, provision of basic amenities, development, and other forms of socio-economic and political strategies that checkmate violence. In our primordial African societies, these social vices were kept in the balance through systems of checks and balances such as curses, jungle justice, social stigmatization, exile, etc. However, with the advent ofthe so-called "civilization" in Africa, these extant systems have all gone to the gutters and our modernsecurity systems have largely been inefficient in curbing widespread crime and violence across Africa, especially Nigeria! The above premise informs the import of this essay. Sexual Assault, otherwise known as rape or molestation, is a psychologically traumatising evil that is meted out against hapless victims, especially of the female gender and children, by predatory human animals on the loose. The reasons for sexualassault are not clearly known except that the perpetrators often claim it to be the "work of the devil" or "temptation". In fact, rape is so common in our society that victims are stigmatised.

Females who have been victims of rape are treated as social pariahs. They are labelled names and termed as sluts, temptresses and what have we. Victim blaming is something that Africans everywhere indulge it. This has led to the reduction of rape reports by the victims. Victims often times hide in agony, pain and shame and are not eager to talk to the police or anyone at all for that matter. They become reclusive, moody, sometimes violent, pervasive and escapist. The Nigerian legal and judicial system has helped in no measure to curb the menace of rape and sexual violence. Victims are made to prove, sometimes ridiculously, how they were raped, prove the presence of seminal discharge, defend what and how they reached the perpetrator's abode or hold and even times, they are asked to show bodily proof of molestation. Sharia law is even worse as practised in Northern Nigeria. In the Sharia system, victims may end up being stoned to death or publiclyhumiliated. Victims of rape end up being dejected, rejected, disillusioned, isolated and desolated. They are left to lick their wounds and call it a day. Worse still, those in a thriving relationship or marriage are often times rejected by their partners and such relationships crumble.

It is a cold world for the victims of rape in Nigeria!Rape can occur in a variety of ways and these include;

1. Visiting a potential rapist in his home

2. Being attacked by rapists in own house or on the streets

3. Being drugged and raped

4. Attacked by armed robbers on the highway (Very common)

5. Kidnapped and raped by abductors

6. Killed and posthumously raped (Yes, this occurs too. How sick!)

7. Taken advantage of through pity, favour seeking, illness, auditions, false pretense, in slumber, churches, mosques, schools, offices, etcIn any way it occurs, rape is rape and not something to be dealt with lightly! This write up however does not intend to dwell on the nature of rapes per se but on the recovery from rape. Victims of rape do not know what to do most times.

Their partners, parents, friends and loved ones are also psychologically traumatised as much as the victims. Some of them avoid the victims altogether and others reduce their amity levels. I'll attempt at giving viable means of dealing with rape for both victims and their partners/family.

Dealing with Rape for VictimsAlthough I am not a psychologist nor do I claim to bean expert at human emotions, I understand how the human mind works and trust me, literally everyone who has never been a victim of rapeWILL NEVERunderstand what a rape victim goes through internally. It is a struggle! Everything they see, feel, touch, smell or even taste has the potential to immediate bring back the experience to the victim's mind. Most even contemplate suicide, others succeed at it. 95% of victims blame themselves for the act and this is where the problem starts from. Victims blame themselves and wish they would havedressed better, avoided journeying, avoided drinking, etc. Even victims of rape by advantage, such as students being coerced by lecturers, blame themselves. They think of things they would not have done and those they would have.

Their emotional and psychological anomaly is further compounded by the neglect they'll face and the uselessness of the law in apprehending their attackers.

The following will serve as a guideline on how to overcome the emotional pain and trauma by victims. I'll present what victims are to do immediately after the assault and in the long term.

1. Make sure you INFORM the Police after the rape has occurred.

2. YOU MUST go to a HOSPITAL for mandatory check up. Visit a standard hospital, preferable a Federal Medical Center or Teaching Hospital. The Doctors WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO.

3. Make sure you increase your fluid intake aggressively. Drink water and cold beverages. They'llhelp psychologically and physically.

4. Do not stare too long at any mirror. This will psychologically induce self blame and anguish. If possible, do away with mirrors altogether for that period.

5. Avoid meeting with people who you do not have tomeet. Stay close to family and loved ones but avoid massive visitations by others. Every visitor that comes keep reminding you that you were a victim. Your family/loved ones will mostly do otherwise.

6. Avoid seeing violent movies at this stage. It is better to listen to songs and watch music videos or comedies.

7. Get a new hobby to get your mind off the event entirely. I'd suggest running every morning and evening. You may also swim, dance, become more religious, read novels and do NEW things you've never done before.

8. Join a support group if you can help it. If you cant, schedule an appointment with your pastor, imam or a psychologist to talk with about the experience and gradually let go.

9. Supplement your anger and pain with something new. Each time you are angry or feeling anguish or the experience comes to mind, try writing about it; a poem, diary, novel will help in healing at this stage. Write out your thoughts once the pain/anger comes and it'll be therapeutic in the long run.

10. Avoided crowded places where you'd feel suppressed. Make sure your environment is as serene and refreshing as possible. If you have money, it's better to take a short holiday to a countryside suite.

11. Avoid thinking of sex or any form of sexual contact for the first few weeks. Sexual thoughts/encounters during this period will evoke memories, pain and anger. It's better to avoid them altogether.

12. Learn meditation and deep breathing exercise. Attempt breathing in deeply and holding for as long as possible and breathing out slowly. Also try breathing in and out deeply and holding for as long as possible before breathing again. When meditating, always imagine or visualise yourself in a state of ecstasy, euphoria, joy and peace profound. If you are even emotionally and imaginatively strong, you may reconstruct the memory of the experience in your mind by visualizing a totally different event that happened and bypassing the attack entirely. Doing this continuously will tell your brain to "delete and forget" the event.

13. Use affirmations to re-orient your brain, mind, and emotions. Once you wake up in the morning or before you sleep at night: slowly say to yourself "I am Happy, I am Joyful. I shall live my live and nothing bad shall ever happen to me." You may modify this assertion to suit your situation and condition. Do it whenever you feel down and watch itchange you entirely.Dealing with Rape for Partners/FamilyMost people often neglect the place of the victim's partners and loved ones in a rape situation. These people as victims as much as the victim itself. At extreme cases, some partners, parents, friends and other loved ones witnessed the rape themselves. It isnot unheard of that attackers molest wives in the presence of their husbands.

This situation is shaky and must be treated with tact. Some marriages fail because of this, friends are lost, parents are estranged, children drift away, etc. Hence it is important for the friends, partners and loved ones of the victims to know their place, what to do and how not to compound the problems, trauma, pain, anguish and anger faced by the hapless victims. I'll be reeling out some of my recommendations here onhow this category of people can be helped, can help and also be emotionally/psychologically liberated.

1. As a partner witnessing the rape scenario, attemptnot to look and think of something else all through. Ifthe attackers are armed, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIGHT! Getting yourself killed will only compound thevictim's problems.

2. After the attack, make sure you aid the victim in getting to a hospital, the police station and home. When doing this, avoid saying provocative and evocative words and utterances. Just remain calm and calmly console the victim.

3. Make sure you also drink cold water and beverages. Water has a water of reducing the intensity of such event.

4. Do not attempt to tell the victim to recap the experience for whatever reason at that stage. Keep your curiosity bound and know that the victim was attacked and would be well at the end. Making the victim tell you what happened emotionally harms him/her.

5. Make sure the victim is tested for STDS and pregnancy over the next few weeks. When doing this,do not make it about yourself but about the safety ofthe victim.

6. Avoid sneaking up on the victim or "surprising the victim". This can result in unexpected regression. Always obviate your presence!

7. Never blame the victim even if it seems the victim is to blame. Avoid blaming the victim both verbally oreven mentally so that resentment cannot happen. Always remember that nobody plans for rape! It can happen to anyone. Nobody, apart from perverts, fantasizes about being brutally raped.

8. As a partner, make sure you individually and as a couple see a pastor, imam or a certified psychologistfrequently to talk out your feelings, emotions and reservations.

9. NEVER EVER ATTEMPT TO INITIATE SEXUAL ACTIVITY during this period. What you should realiseis that all forms of sexual contact will remind the victim of the experience however calm or gentle you want to be. Give the victim time to recover and gradually put the victim in the right state of mind and mood one day at a time. You can start from mild/short kisses and proceed slowly each day from there until the victim gradually tunes out of the pain.

10. Make sure the victim is well fed and NEVER ALONE. Do well to get a pet or maid or someone at all that the victim can trust if you plan to be availablefor unavoidable reasons.

11. Make sure you keep dangerous objects far away from the sight of the victim. You can never tell what the victim is thinking. Keep objects like knives, razors, ropes, guns, etc away from sight.

12. Bring up issues like politics, current affairs, plain gossiping, music and comedy. Take the victim out tothe cinema to see a romantic film, to the mall to buy out his/her pains, to the church/mosque and to serene calm environments. If possible, take the victim out of the state/country for a while.

13. Make sure you dont ever think of the rape scene or else it will mess up your mind and how you perceive the victim. Try and get a new hobby which may be shared with the victim. If thoughts come to mind, just watch a romantic movie or comedy with the victim. Go on dates and attempt falling in love all over again! Tease the victim to dress up gorgeously and take him/her out every once in awhile. Kiss gently and do more activities together! It'd be as if nothing ever happened and you'd be healing the victim as well.

14. For children, stop being needy at this point. Give the victim love, care and attention. If the victim has anewly born baby, get a maid or the elder ones to takecare of the child while the victim heals.

15. Friends should only visit to comfort, gossip and shower love. Buy the victims gifts! Shower the victimwith healthy surprises. Make sure the victim feels like he/she is being loved more than ever. By so doing, you are healing yourselves together.Nobody prays for rape or assault of any kind! If not that our security and judicial systems are messed up, cases like this would be at their barest minimum. However, we cannot deny their reality. I hope this article can touch lives and do more than teach my readers that there is yet hope for those who have become victims of unplanned and unwarranted circumstances! For the men that perpetuate this under any guise, always think of your future, your daughters, your sisters and even your parents.

If Karma comes knocking at the door, make sure you answer as quickly as you attacked that innocent hapless victim. Those boys that use sedatives and alcohol to take advantage of ladies, always think of your future because sometimes when the repercussions of these things come, you'd say a village witch is after your life and destiny and trust me, THE REPERCUSSIONS WILL COME EVENTUALLY. If you have ever raped anyone, it is not too late to make amends! Find a way to donate to foundations that aid rape victims, personally involve yourself in charity and pray that you may be forgiven by the ever moving and eternally causal force of the cosmic!

University 'Sex-For-Grades' Prohibition Bill In The Senate Passes 2nd Reading

A bill prohibiting sexual harassment of students byeducators in tertiary educational institutions has scaled second reading at the senate.

The bill, which was debated on Tuesday, received the endorsement of many lawmakers.

Leading the debate on the bill, Ovie Omo-Agege, a senator from Delta central, argued that sexual harassment was rife in many higher institutions of learning in Nigeria, hence the need for a law outlawing the vice. He, therefore, urged the senate to support the bill.“Sexual harassment is a vice in our higher institutions.

We are using this bill to send a message that enough is enough,” he said. Also speaking,

Theodore Orji, a senator from Abia state, expressed his support for the bill.“I believe this bill will do enough in curtailing the vice in our higher institutions,”‎ he said.

However, Dino Melaye, a senator from Kogi west, while making his contribution, said that sexual harassment was a two-way traffic. He argued that some students willfully seduce their lecturers with the aim of getting academic favours.

“I support wholeheartedly that this bill be enacted to stand as deterrent to lecturers who take advantage of female students,” he said.“However, the seductive and provocative‎ dresses of our students who enter offices of lecturers who have no anointing to resist sexual temptation should be discouraged.

”Making her contribution, Stella Oduah, a senator from Anambra north, called for a quick passage of the bill.“When you harass these girls you have ruined their lives,” she lamented.

“We should encourage an accelerated passage of this bill.”In his contribution, Yahaya Aliyu, a senator from Kebbi north, called for a blanket law against sexualharassment, instead of one that is targeted at a section of society.“If we are to make laws against sexual harassmentwe should do it across the board. Targeting one section of society is discriminatory‎,” he said.

After listening to the arguments, Senate President Bukola Saraki put the bill to a voice vote to which lawmakers‎ gave their nods.Afterwards, the senate president referred the‎ bill to the committee on judiciary‎ for more legislative treatment, and directed it to submit its report withinfour weeks. The bill has to be read a third time, before it is passed.

Meanwhile, the senate will debate the current status of the Nigerian economy on Wednesday. This followed a point of order raised by Bassey Akpan, a senator from Akwa Ibom north-east, under order 42 of the senate rules which has to do with matters of urgent national importance.Akpan while making his submission stated that theeconomy had slipped into a full-blown‎ recession, and added that it needed an urgent remedy.“I wish to draw the attention of this chamber to the statistics of Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on the state of Nigerian economy. Statistics have shown that our economy has gone into a full-blown recession,” he said. After listening to him, Saraki ‎ stood down the matter to the next legislative day.

According to the NBS, 1.5 million Nigerians became unemployed in 2016. This is besides 13.7 percent inflation rate, and the depreciating value ofthe naira. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has called for an urgent monetary policy meeting to look into the current fiscal challenges.

What Are The Major Specs To Check In A Laptop When Getting One?

1. RAM - a minimum of 2gig RAM (depending on ur budget)

2. Processor type and speed- Insist on Intel processors.. I'm not really conversant with the variants but going for Intel is essential. Speed should be 2ghz minimum

3. Hard drive space - minimum of 160gb (depending on budget)

4. DVD ROM5. USB ports (3)6.

5. The screen resolution. Least acceptable is 1366 by768 (which is just above HD). Look for Full HD if you can - 1920 by 1080

6. Screen size. Varies from 11" to 17". Your choice.

7. Battery life. Very important6. Storage. Two choices here. HDD or SSD. Hard disks are much cheaper, but slower than SSDs. If you're going for a hard disk, look for at least 256gb. 500gb is becoming standard though. A 128gb SSD is still more expensive than a 500gb hard disk. Choose wisely.

8. Connectivity. Wifi is standard. The more USB ports the better (newer laptops usually have at least one USB 3 port, which is faster than the more common USB ports). Bluetooth is optional. Bluetooth USB dongles are quite cheap if you need one.

With regard the processor, once you've decided to go for Intel, there are so many options. Diff classes of processors - from the Pentium series, to the M series,to the i series.Best you go for the i series. Three options here - i3, i5 and i7. The higher the number, the more powerful. But it doesn't end there! There are currently 6 generations of these chips. The latest are called"Skylake" 6th gen. Go for something from the 3rd gen upwards. A 6th gen i3 is better than a 2nd gen i5.Be very careful about this. Look out for the processorcode name eg i5-5200u. Do a Google search of the name to learn more about it.

Random Access Memory (RAM)Ideally, 4gb ram should be enough on a budget Laptop, but if you want something more high-end, 8gbwouldn't hurt.- Storage (Hard Drive)A lot of people don't know this, but the speed of a computers's CPU owes a lot to the storage. Small storage equals to minimum performance, large storage equals to maximum performance.CPUThe CPU is basically the brains and heartbeat of a computer.

The overall performance of a computer depends on the processor. If you're an hardcore gamer and money is not an issue, go for Intel core i5& i7 - they are high-end stuff. On a budget however, core i3 is pretty basic, won't give you something extrabut good enough.Graphics ChipIntegrated graphics chip (it shares system memory) should serve you well, if you're not into playing PC games with high graphics, high res video editing or stuffs like that.

A dedicated graphic processor from AMD or Nvidia is necessary however, if you're a gamer. It comes in budget and high end variants.- Blu-ray/DVD DrivesThis is a common feature on most laptops, but you can always buy an external one if yours don't have it. Many mini-laptops don't have in-built DVD drive.- DisplayMost people tend to overlook this, but it's very important. The more PPI you have, the sharper the overall screen resolution becomes.

Your suggestions will b highly accepted.

10 Common Mistakes And Confusing Words In English

Let's face it, English can be confusing. A lot of wordsare similar but with different meanings, as a result it is almost impossible to avoid making mistakes in English, but if you can get your head around these explanations, you might be able to avoid making these ones or at least recognise them when you see them.

1. MOURN vs MOAN :

Moan as a verb, means to make a complaint in an unhappy voice, usually about something which does not seem important to other people. For example:-The British always moan about the weather.Mourn is a verb that means to feel or express great sadness, especially because of someone's death. For example:Many people in the UK mourned the death of Princess Diana.

2 CAPITAL vs CAPITOL:-

Capital is a noun used to describe the most important city or town of a country or region, usually its seat of government. For example: London is the capital of England.- Capitol is a noun used to describe a building in which a US state government meets. For example: The Capitol is a public building.

3 COMPLEMENT vs COMPLIMENT :-

Complement is a verb, which means to make something seem better or more attractive when combined. For example: "The colours blue and green complement each other perfectly."- Compliment is a noun, which means a remark that expresses approval, admiration or respect. For example: "It was the nicest compliment anyone had ever paid me."

4 COUNCIL vs COUNSEL :-

Council is a group noun. It refers to a group of people elected or chosen to make decisions or give advice on a particular subject, to represent a particular group of people, or to run a particular organization. For example: "The local council has decided not to allocate any more funds for the project."- Counsel can be a verb, which means to give advice, especially on social or personal problems. For example: "She counsels the long-term unemployed on how to get a job."Counsel can also be a noun, which means advice. For example: "I should have listened to my father's counsel, and saved some money instead of spending it all."

5 FEWER vs LESS :

most people gets this wrong - including native speakers. The general rule is to use fewer for things you can count (individually), and less for things you can only measureFor example:There were fewer people in the class than usual. (People can be counted.)There were fewer days below freezing last winter. (Days can be counted.)I drink less coffee than she does. (Coffee cannot be counted individually it has to be measured). It looks bad when there's lessinformation about your company on a site than thereis for other companies.!Note - The lines between less and fewer are getting blurred, i.e. a sign in a shop might say, "10 items or less," because "10 items or fewer," seems pompous to many people. Or maybe it's because less takes fewer letters.

6 HOLIDAY vs WEEKEND :

A holiday (noun), a time, often one or two weeks, when someone does not go to work or school but is free to do what they want, such as travel or relax. You usually have to book your holiday with your boss. For example: "Where are you going on holiday this year? Somewhere nice I hope."The weekend (noun) - In the UK, the weekend is Saturday and Sunday, or from Friday evening until Sunday night. It's the part of the week in which many workers living in the UK do not go to work. It is a time for leisure and recreation, and/or for religious activities. ...For example: "What are you doing this weekend? Anything nice?"

7 LATER vs LATTER :

Later is an adverb. It's used to express time, either in the future or after the time you have mentioned. For example: "I'll see you later on Second Life."Latter is an adjectiv, which means near or towards the end of somethingFor example: "I got tired during the latter part of the walk."!Latter can also be used to describe the second thing of two things mentioned.

8 RAISE vs RISE :

When used as a verb they both have the same general meaning of "to move upwards", the main difference is that rise is an intransitive verb (it does not take an object), while raise is a transitive verb (it requires an object):As you can see from the examples below; nobody pushes up the sun, whereas Lynne moved her hand upwards.
rise (v) Something rises by itselfFor example:-The sun rises in the east. The chairman always rises to the occasion.I will rise tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. to walk the dog.Rise is an irregular verb: rise / rose / risenraise (v) Something else is needed to raise something. For example:-Lynne raised her hand. They can't raise the Titanic.Raise is a regular verb: raise / raised / raisedAs a noun rise describes an upward movement. For example:-There was a steep rise in drug-related crimes. As a noun raise describes an increase in salary. For example: When people ask for araise , they often go about it in an entirely wrong way.!Note - you can raise children, which means to look after them as they grow up.!Note - sometimes people ask for a pay rise.

9. MORAL vs MORALE :

Moral as a noun or an adjective, which is used to describe standards of good or bad character and behaviour. It can also be used to describe a kind of story that tells you how you should or should not behave. For example:-Wilde was condemned by his critics for writing an"immoral" book; he claimed it was a very moral work.Morale is a noun that describes the amount of confidence felt by a person or group of people, especially when in a dangerous or difficult situation. For example:During the second world war lipstick was kept in production in the UK because of its effect on morale.

10 PRECEDE vs PROCEED :

Precede is a verb that means to be or to go before something or someone in time or space. For example: Ecological extinction caused by overfishing precedes other human disturbance to coastal ecosystems.Proceed is a verb that means to continue as planned. For example: The government has decided not to proceed with the legislation.

I Slept With 400 Men In Five Months_22-Year Old Trafficking Victim

A human trafficking victim, Love John, says she slept with more than 400 men in less than five months in the Sango Ota area of Ogun State.

Love, 22, and her 23-year-old sister, Happiness, were lured into prostitution sometime in January by their eldest sister, Mary.Mary also tricked a cousin, Joy Lawrence, 25, promising the three ladies that she could give them jobs that would help them make a decent living. However, by the time they discovered that they had been trafficked, the victims said they had become trapped.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Lawrence and another victim fled the hotel on Monday when they could no longer bear the pain they were subjected to.Lawrence was reported to have been brought to the Lagos zonal headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service, which then stormed the hotel and rescued other victims. The agency also arrested Mary and the owner of the hotel, one Mrs. Akpojaro Rose, an indigene of Warri, Delta State. It was learnt that the ladies collected between N500 and N700 per sex, paid N200 per day for hotel rates, and made about N340,000 in savings within the period.

Narrating her ordeal, Love told our correspondent she did not have any formal education because their father died when they were toddlers. She explained that her sister lured her into prostitution, saying she slept with an average of four men a day.She said, “I was learning tailoring in the village. My sister told me she could help me get a job in Lagos; she didn’t tell me that it was prostitution I was coming to do. After we got to Lagos, she said we should do this (prostitution) job so we can make money to be able to finish my craft as a tailor. I sleep with about four men in a day and each of them pay me at least N500.”Her elder sister, Happiness, also said she was not aware she had been trafficked until she arrived in Lagos and was introduced to prostitution.

“I didn’t go to school and I have not learnt any trade. I came to Lagos a few months ago. My sister didn’t tell me this was what I was coming to do in Lagos. She said it was a good job,” she said.Lawrence, who fled the hotel on Monday, said she was told she would be trading when she left their hometown in Ogoja, Cross River State.“I ran away because I didn’t like the work. I don’t want to do it again. I never knew this was the job,” the victim said. But Mary said she did not want to bring her relatives into the trade, adding that she gave in to pressure when they kept asking her to take them to Lagos.

She said, “I came to Lagos with a friend in 2014 and my friend introduced me to this job. We were first using a hotel called Happiness Hotel before we moved to Morning Star Hotel in Sango Ota.“When I travelled to the village, my sisters started disturbing me that they wanted to follow me to Lagos to go and work.“When they continued to disturb me, I decided to take them with me; but I didn’t tell them I was into prostitution. I told my mother I was working in a beer parlour.“Each of us makes N2,500 to N3,000 daily. We sleep with an average of three to four men and they pay between N500 and N700.”The 32-year-old said from January till May 16 when they were arrested, she had saved N340,000 for the three girls. She, however, alleged that the hotel was raided by some policemen from the Sango Ota division, whom they settled with N150,000.The owner of the hotel, Rose, told PUNCH Metro that she gave out rooms to the girls at the rate of N200 per day.“I warned Mary that the girls were too young, but she didn’t listen to me. I have 15 rooms in my hoteland I have seven girls, who were paying me N200 every day. If I had children of their age, I will not allow them do this,” she said.

The Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration, Musa Maza, who handed over the victims to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and other related matters, said the suspects would be prosecuted at the end of investigations. He said, “This is a human trafficking case in the form of enslavement and prostitution. The victims were forced into sex against their wish. Two of them actually escaped. The whereabouts of one is unknown, but the second victim contacted someone who brought her to the immigration office.“Parents should be vigilant and wary of those who come for their children asking them to be released in search of greener pastures. We are handing them over to NAPTIP for prosecution. We believe this will serve as a deterrent to those that will want to engage in this useless business.”

Fuel Hike:ASUU Declares Strike Nationwide

National President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi has mobilized members of the union for strike and mass action commencing Wednesday to force the Federal Government to revert the pump price from N145 to N86.50.In a letter sent to members of the congress nationwide and read at the University of Ibadan Chapter where the Chairman, Dr Deji Omole mobilized members to get ready for mass resistanceto what he called the obnoxious and callous policy of fuel price increment.

According to Omole, the policy of subsidy removal was the most criminal ambush from the Mohammadu Buhari-led federal government to empower the rich and cripple the poor. The ASUU boss who said that the common denominator to all Nigerians is poverty added that the same APC government that failed to pay civil servants for months is now celebrating budget signing with the legalization of black market.Omole who noted that many state governors who now align with the removal of subsidy ran their states aground through wasteful spending added that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should beam search lights on state governors.

ASUU boss noted that the coup against the masses adding that since Nigeria runs motorized economy, Nigerians cannot be forced to carry the problems created by the rich and friends of government.ASUU president in the letter entitled “Increase in Pump price of Premium Motor Spirit to N145 perlitre:Proposal for Joint Action with NLC stated that ASUUmembers are called upon to according to our Union’s principles, fully respect Article 2 of the Constitution of ASUU; that our Union and members shall work for the protection and advancement of the socio-economic interests of the nation. Branch Chairpersons are to conduct emergency congress meetings on Tuesday 17 May 2016 to mobilise our members for the action commencing on Wednesday. All branches of ASUU nationwide are to comply”Ogunyemi anchored the position on “delayed, partially paid and in most cases unpaid salaries for anumber of months by state, federal and local governments, disguised retrenchment of workers, especially by State Governments, in the name of verification exercise and endless hunt for ghost workers and heavy taxation”.

Fear Over MPC Outcome Fuels Naira Appreciation

The naira maintained its upward trend in the parallel market yesterday, appreciating to N345 per dollar in response to decline in demand for dollars occasioned by anxiety over the possible outcome of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting coming up next week.Vanguard investigation revealed that the parallel market exchange rate fell to N345 per dollar yesterday from N350 per dollar on Monday, implying appreciation of N5 for the nation’s currency. The naira has appreciated by N25 against the dollar since Friday when the parallel market exchange rate stood at N370 per dollar in response to anticipated increase in demand due to deregulation of petroleumproducts importation and rumours about imminent official devaluation of the naira by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Bureaux De Change operators attributed the increased appreciation of the naira to anxiety over the possible outcome of the MPC meeting scheduled to hold from Monday to Tuesday next week. “Demand for dollars is weak today because market participants, especially, buyers are anxious about the outcome of the MPC meeting”, said Aminu Gwadabe, President Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON). Confirming this development, Financial Derivatives Company Limited, said “Nigerians are extremely nervous about the possible outcomes of the next MPC meeting. This is because of a confluence of negative developments ranging from a sharp fall in the production of oil, deepening external reserves, spiralling inflation and sharply lower Gross DomesticProduct (GDP) growth. There has hardly been a time in the history of Nigeria that the Central Bank has been faced with such stark and hard choices. Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet. Reviewing the impact of the sharp increase in inflation rate to 13.6 percent in April on the financial markets and the outcome of the MPC meeting, “The Company stated, “The MPC is expected to seriously consider the consequence of high inflation on investor returns. A tighter monetary environment (hiking interest rates) could result in investors shifting to the fixed income market due to attractive interest rates. In addition, NIBOR and T-bill rates would be expected to increase. “Given the underperformance of the stock market with a negative YTD return of (6.35%), we expect capital outflow from the Nigerian bourse, as investors become attracted to high interest fixed income instruments. “We expect a cocktail of measures or a sequence of steps aimed at controlling inflation, maintaining currency stability and stimulating growth. The order in which these decisions will be taken is a subject of great uncertainty and anticipation.”

Steven Johnson Syndrome (SJS) Is In Nigeria Kills One,Another Hospitalized

The Federal Minister of Health, Issac Adewole, hasrevealed that there is a new disease in Nigeria which has killed a Nigerian while another is currently undergoing treatment at the National Hospital Abuja.Briefing journalists in Abuja, on Friday, Mr. Adewole said the health condition known as Stephen Johnson Syndrome (SJS) was an unusualallergic reactions in Nigeria and some parts of Europe.

He said, “We have to find a means to communicatewith Nigerians,so they should all be aware of this dangerous disease and it is the sole business of government to enlighten the society by trying to increase their awareness, knowledge and to improve their quality way of life.”Dr. Olanrewaju Falodun a Senior Consultant Physician/Dermatologist at the National Hospital, Abuja, shed more light on the disease and the cases being handled in his hospital.

“Stephens Johnson Syndrome, is an immune complex mediated hypersensitivity reaction that typically involves the skin and mucous membranesand was first described in 1922 by Albert Stevens and Frank Johnson,” Mr. Falodun said.SJS is a rare and unpredictable reaction, and is also a minor form of toxic epidermal necrolysis with less than 10 percent body surface area involvement, the consultant said.“SJS is a rare but serious and potentially life-threatening contagious drug reaction.

Incidence of SJS is estimated between 1.1 and 7.1 cases per million per year and is more prevalent in women than men. Incidence in Europe is two per million per year” Mr. Falodun said.He confirmed that two cases were being treated at the Abuja National Hospital, saying one patient already passed while the other was still undergoing treatment. He said the incidence was higher in Africa due to extensive use of herbal preparations and the prevalence of HIV.

He listed the symptoms of the SJS disease to include fever, sore throat, running nose, fatigue, general aches and pains, ulcers in mouth, genitals, anal regions as well as conjunctivitis. The health complications, Mr. Falodun said, are pigmentation problems, skin scarring, scarred genitals, joint pains, lung diseases, obstructive disorders and eye complications, adhesions, ulcers, and blindness. He however said the cause of the disease remained unknown in a quarter to half of cases butthat self-medications appeared to be one of its causes. He advised Nigerians to avoid misuse of drugs, while individuals with previous drug reactions should always inform healthcare practitioners so that in future they would be able to predict who is at risk of the disease using genetic screening.

Here are ways Mr. Falodun said SJS could be managed by hospitals:
1. Cessation of suspected drugs
2. Hospital Admission: Preferably in burns unit/intensive care
3. Nutritional and Fluid replacement
4. Temperature maintenance
5. Pain relief
6. Mouth-care

World Health Organization Ranks Onitsha As Most Polluted City In The World

Two cities – one in Iran and another in Nigeria – can claim title because WHO measures pollution intwo different ways.

The new WHO database of worldwide air pollution measures it in two different ways, and as a result two cities – one in Iran and another in Nigeria – can lay claim to the unenviable title of world’s most polluted city.It all comes down to which minute particles, or particulate matter (PM), in the air are being measured. These particles are between 2.5 and 10 microns in diameter, roughly 30 times smaller thanthe width of a human hair. The coarser PM10s include dust stirred up by cars on roads and the wind, soot from open fires and partially burned carbon from the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and wood.

The particles are small enough to be inhaled deep into the lungs. But the ultra-fine particles known as PM2.5s can only be seen with microscopes and are produced from all kinds of combustion. These are small enough to get from the lungs into the blood supply and are possibly more deadly because they affect the cardiovascular system.

Many cities in developing countries traditionally monitor only PM10s. But increasingly PM2.5 pollution is seen as the best measure of how bad air pollution is for health. Richer countries usually have higher levels of PM 2.5s, while low income countries have higher levels of PM10s. Both, says the WHO, are deadly.Onitsha: highest for PM10sIn 2013, two people died of heat exhaustion after a six-hour gridlock on the city’s bridge over the river Niger.

Cars and trucks on the main road to Lagos belch fumes from burning low-quality diesel, and the air often stinks of burning waste from rubbish dumps, the smoke from old ships on the river and discharges from the metal workshops. But people did not expect Onitsha in Anambra state on the eastern bank of the mile-wide river Niger, to be named the most polluted in the world.According to the WHO, an air quality monitor there registered 594 micrograms per cubic metre of microscopic PM10 particles, and 66 of the more deadly PM2.5s. Onitsha’s figures are nearly twice as bad as notoriously polluted cities such as Kabul, Beijing and Tehran and 30 times worse thanLondon.“We know pollution is very bad here. But this city must be much better than Lagos,” said Solomon Okechukwa, a sceptical Anambra state official, on Wednesday. But Onitsha, say academics, is a textbook exampleof the perils of rapid urbanisation without planning or public services creating a sustained pollution assault on its water and air.

As a tropical port city which has doubled in size to over 1 million people in just a few years, it is frequently shrouded in plumes of black diesel smoke from old ships; it has no proper waste incineration plants; its construction sites and workshops emit clouds of dust and its heavy traffic is some of the worst in Nigeria.A recent study of Onitsha’s water pollution found more than 100 petrol stations in the city, often selling low-quality fuel, dozens of unregulated rubbish dumps, major fuel spills and high levels of arsenic, mercury, lead, copper and iron in its water.

The city’s many metal industries, private hospitals and workshops were all said to be heavy polluters emitting chemical, hospital and household waste and sewage.“The level of pollution in Onitsha is getting increasingly serious,” said the authors. However, the WHO also said on Wednesday that the pollution data from Onitsha was not necessarily reliable because it came from a single monitoring station.“It is difficult to get accurate measurements in Africa. You can get super-high readings, but ideallythe measurements should be done over a year to include different seasons and times of day. The reading in Onitsha may be representative but not altogether reliable,” said a WHO spokeswoman.

Zabol: highest for PM2.5sZabol,

an eastern Iranian city on the border with Afghanistan, was once at the heart of a bustling ancient civilisation, close to where the very first piece of animation came from in the form of an intricate pottery bowl dating back 5,000 years that displays a goat in motion. But the city is now a largely neglected area plaguedby poverty - and pollution.Every summer, as temperatures rise to staggering levels of 40C or even higher, Zabol is struck by what is locally known as “120 days of wind”, relentless dust storms from north to south. But the disappearance in the early 2000s of a nearby wetland, Hamoun, has exacerbated the situation to an unprecedented extent. Over many centuries, the wetland was crucial to the development of the area, serving as its natural cooler.

Now it has dried up and become a major source of dust in the air.Zabol is only 45 minute’s drive away from Shahr-i Sokhta (Burnt City), a Unesco-designated world heritage site, home to the remains of a mudbrick city belonging to the bronze age.In recent years, suffocating dust storms sweeping across Zabol have repeatedly disrupted life, closing down schools and government offices. Last year officials were forced to distribute free masks and national headlines such as “Zabol’s pollution reaching 40 times more than normal” have become part of daily life.

Similar storms havealso ravaged west of the country.Mohsen Soleymani, the national project manager for preservation of Iranian wetlands, said pollution in Zabol was different from that in Tehran or Beijing, where it is linked to industry. “We are facing a critical situation in Zabol and the 120 daysof wind period worsens the dust storms every year,” he told the Guardian.“The drying up of Hamoun is the main reason behind this level of pollution but other factions have contributed to the situation such as bad management of our water resources in the past.”According to Soleymani more than 700,000 job opportunities have disappeared because of the wetland’s situation.

According to a report published by Iran’s Shargh daily, more than 500 people are diagnosed with tuberculosis in Zabol every year due to dust pollution, an unusual rate in the country. Hamoun’s crisis has forced people out of nearly 300 villages in the province, the Iranian daily reported.Kaveh Madani, a senior lecturer in environmental management from Imperial College London, said: “The thirst for development in Iran increased as a result of the 1979 revolution, Iraq-Iran war and the international sanctions..“Iranians continued developing infrastructure without a real concern about the long-term environmental consequences of their developmentplans, which normally lacked strong environmentalimpact assessments.”Air pollution, dust storms, drying lakes and rivers, declining groundwater levels, land subsidence, deforestation, and desertification are on the menu of environmental products caused by unsustainable development, he said.“Some of the problems, however, are not domestic products. Transboundary conflicts over Helmand (Hirmand) river with Afghanistan, resulting in watershortage and intensified dust storms have heavily impacted the lives of those living around the Hamouns wetlands,” he said.

Economy Seen Picking Up As FG Begins Capital Release Today

Senator Udo Udoma, Minister of Budget and National Planning, on Thursday, said that the Federal Government would begin capital releases for the 2016 budget today. Analysts say implementation of the 2016 budget may inject the funds needed to lift Nigerian economy from the current level.

The minister spoke while giving a breakdown of the 2016 Budget of Change at the Presidential Villa,Abuja.“By tomorrow, some releases would be made. We are ready to start releases as far as the budget is concerned,” said Udoma, adding that his ministry intends to work closely with the Federal Ministry ofFinance to ensure cash backing of the capital projects.

"The 2016 budget would run concurrently until Maynext year as government intends to return to the January to December financial year, the minister said in a question and answer session.“We intend to take the budget to where it ought to be, the January to December financial year, which is much better for implementation.

So for the next year’s budget we intend to get it to the National Assembly so that it is passed by the year end,” he said. This is even as the budget minister said the 2016 budget would include six strategic areas such as economic diversification, critical infrastructure andreforms in the oil and gas sector.Others, he said, include ease of doing business, policy, environment, national security and governance, and social investment.“The Strategic Implementation Plan forms the basis for the preparation and implementation of the 2016 budget, as it documents the key short-term priorities of the incumbent administration to place the economy on this upward trajectory as it is repositioned for change, inclusive growth and sustainable development,” Udoma said.

A breakdown of the 2016 budget projections shows that the fiscal document envisages a net distributable revenue of N5.72 trillion, comprising main federation account revenue of N4.303 trillion and N1.416 trillion from the value-added tax pool account.Of the distributable revenue, net oil receipts amount to N1.48 trillion or 25 percent while net non-oil revenue accounts for the balance of N4.22 trillion or 75 percent. The states and local governments’ share of the distributable pool amount to N3.24 trillion while the Federal Government would receive N2.48 trillion.

The Federal Government’s budgeted revenue is projected at N3.855 trillion largely contributed by the internally generated revenue (IGR) of N1.51 trillion, which is 35 percent increase over the N2.855 trillion for the 2015 budget.

Federal Government’s revenue is mainly to be derived from the growth in non-oil resources from corporate tax; VAT and dividends from governmentcorporations and independent revenue.

A projection of N1.88 trillion was made on corporate taxes in the 2016 budget as against N1.42 trillion in 2015, and VAT collection of N1.48 trillion in 2016 from N1.28 trillion last year.

Provisions for expenditure of the N6.06 trillion 2016 budget shows a 35 percent increase over the 2015 budget of N5.067 trillion.

Statutory transfer (inclusive of N157 billion-capital component) is put at N352.37 billion, debt servicing including sinking fund of N1.48 trillion, recurrent (non-debt) expenditure is put at N2.65 trillion.

Capital expenditure (excluding share of capital in statutory transfers) is put at N1.59 trillion while thecapital expenditure (including share of capital expenditure in statutory transfer) is put at N1.7 trillion.

Some key allocations in the 2016 budget are Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, N456.93 billion; Transpiration, N202.34 billion; Defence, N443.07 billion; Interiors, N513.65 billion; Education, N403.16 billion and Health, N250.06 billion.Others are Agriculture and Rural Development, 75.80 billion; Solid Minerals, N16.73 billion; Youth and Sports Development, N75.79 billion; Water Resources, N53.30 billion and special intervention programmes of N500 billion. The budget is predicated on an oil production benchmark of 2.2 million barrels per day at $38 perbarrel and an exchange rate of N197 to a dollar.Udoma said government plans to actively support the use of public private partnerships in the development of infrastructure and encourages ministers to explore concessioning arrangements for airports, major roads and other infrastructure projects.

The government, he said, was working to raise $25billion for the establishment of an infrastructure fund within three years.Among priority projects listed for implementation by government are dualisation of the Kano-Maiduguri Road (sections I-V) for N13 billion;Lagos-Ibadan Expressway (section1) for N40 billion; N1.1 billion for the generation of 700mw from Zungeru Hydro Power Project; N18.3 billion for the completion of Abuja (Idu) – Kaduna 186.5km single track rail line; N60 billion counterpart funding for Lagos- Kano Standard Gauge rail line and N60 billion counterpart funding for Calabar-Lagos Standard Gauge rail line.

Questions Women Usually Ask About Ovulation,Fertile Period And Menstruation [Explained]

We receive hundreds of questions from women regarding
ovulation, menstruation and fertile periods. Many want to
know whether it’s possible to ovulate without menstruation, or
menstruate without ovulation or whether they can get
pregnant if they have sex during menstruation. Many also want
to know about fertility.
This post answers all the follow-up questions to your questions on this topic. Please read this post and share because it
will help all women.
1. Don’t women ovulate on the 14th day after their period starts?
Unfortunately this is a myth that many still hold on to,
including healthcare professionals. The day of ovulation differs
from woman to woman and can even be different from month
to month. The “14th day” thinking appears to come from either
taking the average of when all women ovulate or from
someone just dividing the 28 day cycle in half. However this
myth got started, it is not an accurate way to calculate
ovulation, because many women do NOT ovulate on the 14th
day of their cycle.
2. During my ovulation time, how many days am I really fertile?
During the time of ovulation, an egg is available to be fertilized
for only about 12-24 hours. But since sperm can live in the
body for 3-5 days and then the egg is available for one day,
your most fertile time is considered to be about 5-7 days. The
most fertile period starts from two days before ovulation and
one day after ovulation.
3. Can I ovulate during my period?
For women who have regular cycles, ovulating during your
period is highly unlikely. Some women have very irregular
cycles, maybe coming once every 3 months or 2-3 times in one
month, and these women can have the odd occurrence of
ovulating during a period or what is believed to be a period.
Still, the chance of ovulating during a period is unlikely. But
note that because sperm can live in the body for 3-5 days,
pregnancy could occur from intercourse that takes place
during a period.
4. Can I ovulate right after my period?
The answer to this is determined by how many days are in
your cycle. For example, if you have a 21 day cycle (from the
beginning of one period to the beginning of another) and you
bleed for 7 days, then yes, you could ovulate right after your
period. This is because we know ovulation can occur 12-16
[average 14] days before your next period begins, and this
would put you ovulating at days 6-10 of your cycle.
5. Can I get pregnant during my period?
Pregnancy can occur from intercourse that takes place during a
period. This is because sperm can live in the body for up to
five days, and if a woman ovulates soon after her period, then
conception could take place from intercourse that occurred
during her period. This is especially common with women with
short cycle.
6. Can I ovulate without detecting the stretchy white cervical fluid?
Ovulation can take place even if you do not notice the “stretchy
egg-white” fluid that we assume accompanies ovulation. Every
woman can experience her own type of cervical fluid, and not
all are the same. Ovulation is assumed to take place on the
day a woman has the most amount of wet fluid.
7. What does it mean if I have the stretchy cervical fluid on more than one day?
Many women can experience ovulation fluid a few days before
ovulation actually takes place and can even have it after
ovulation has finished. When women are studying their fluid to
determine ovulation, they are looking for the 12-24 hour
period that they had the greatest amount of wet fluid as the
time that an egg is available for fertilization, although
intercourse that happens on the few days before this can also
result in pregnancy.
8. What are signs of ovulation?
The signs of ovulation can be any of the following, although
many women may only notice one or two of these:
,
• Change in cervical fluid
• Change in cervical position and cervica
cervical firmness
• Brief twinge of pain or dull ache that is felt on one side of the abdomen
• Light spotting
• Increase in sex drive
• Elevated level of the luteinizing hormone which can be
detected on a test
• Body temperature chart that shows a
consistent change
• Breast tenderness
• Abdominal bloating
• Heightened sense of vision, smell or taste
9. Can a woman ovulate more than once during each cycle?
A woman cannot ovulate more than once during each cycle,
therefore she cannot get pregnant more than once during a
cycle. Multiple ovulation can occur and is when two or more
eggs are released in a single cycle. Both eggs are released
during one 24 hour period and are responsible for the birth of
fraternal twins. It is believed that this may occur in as many as
5-10% of all cycles but does not result in that many twins due
to a type of miscarriage referred to as the “vanishing twin
phenomenon.”
10. Sometimes I see my menses twice in a month, Am I
normal?
You can see your menses twice a month if you have a short
cycle and you see it early that same month. For example, a
lady with a cycle length of 23days who sees her period on the
2nd of the month can also have menstrual flow by say 25th of
same month. Another reason why many people have menses
twice a month is when they use oral contraceptives. These
products induce withdrawal bleeding.
11. Can I ovulate without having a period?
Since a woman releases an egg 12-16 days before her expected
period, it is possible for women to get pregnant without having
periods. Women who are not menstruating due to a certain
condition (i.e.…low body weight, breastfeeding,
perimenopause) risk the chance of ovulating at any point. For
those who want to conceive, the lack of periods could make it
more difficult to know the timing of ovulation if you are not
charting temperature and cervical fluid changes. But if you are
not having periods and wanting to prevent pregnancy, a form
of contraception should be used since there is no way to know
when ovulation will occur.
12. Can I have a period without ovulation?
Having a period does not necessarily mean that ovulation has
taken place. Some women may have what is called an
anovulatory cycle, (meaning no ovulation) and can experience
some bleeding which is mistaken for a period, but it is actually
not a true period. This bleeding is caused by either a buildup
in the uterine lining that can no longer sustain itself or by an
estrogen level drop. The main way to decipher if ovulation is in
fact taking place is by tracking the body temperature.
13. I have not seen my period for the past 2, 3, 4 (or more)
months, what’s the problem?
There are many things that can cause delay in your periods,
and may cause you not to see your period as expected.
Examples include Use of Birth Control, Stress, Illness, Eating
Disorders, Being Overweight, PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian
Syndrome), Thyroid Disorder, Premature Menopause, Change
in Schedule. If you have such situation and you are planning to
get pregnant, then you have to see your doctor.
14. How do I calculate when I am ovulating?
The timing of ovulation is complex and can take some studying
of your body and your cycles to figure out. By using a
combination of methods such as studying cervical fluid, taking
your body temperature, and tracking your periods, you can
calculate your time of ovulation.

Osagie Ize_Iyamu: "Oshiomhole Squandered N1trn On Inflated Projects

BENIN—A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has disclosed that the Adams Oshiomhole-led administration in the state received over N1 trillion in the last seven and a halfyears from the Federation Account and Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, but lamented that the fund was squandered on highly inflated projects that were not evenly distributed across the state.

He also accused the state government of focusing on two sectors of the economy to the detriment of other critical sectors, regretting that the evils of poverty and unemployment were not tackled while agriculture, industry, tourism, sports, housing and other sectors were neglected Pastor Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to the Edo State Government, disclosed this in a paper entitled, Edo State Economy: The Way out, he presented at a town hallmeeting, yesterday, in Benin, organised by a group, House 2 House Support Initiative.

According to him, “Edo State Government in the past seven and a half years received over N1 trillion as revenue from the Federation Account and IGR. This is unprecedented in the revenue profile of the state since its inception. This huge revenue was unfortunately not used to grow the economy of the state but squandered on highly inflated projects that were not evenly distributed across the state. “They were restricted to one or two sectors to the detriment of other critical areas. The evils of poverty and unemployment were not tackled while sectors such as agriculture, industry, tourism, sports, housing, solid minerals were ignored.

Existing factories like Bendel Brewery, EdoLine, Edo Courier, Edo Hotel and Bendel Insurance have been allowed to collapse. “A government thatchooses deliberately to ignore agriculture, industry, tourism, sports, solid minerals, etc cannot be seriously concerned about the economy of the state. The present government has, however, madeserious effort at increasing the internally generatedrevenue of the state from N300 million monthly when they came in to N2billion monthly. This is commendable.”

Policeman Beats Up Secondary School Girl In Benin City

According to the testimony of the secondary school student which she told to family and passers by was that

She was selling her mother's wear in the market popularly known as OBA MARKET when the police man beckoned on her as "Black on black" (maybe because that was the colour of dress she was on)
She claimed she replied the policeman saying "that isn't my name if you don't no my name then don't call me". And the policeman came down from his patrol van and started hiting this little girl (I guess he was feeling embarrassed)

An eye witness who was around said it took the strength of two men to get this policeman off the little girl

The girl who claimed she knows her right as a citizen of Nigeria climbed onto the patrol van and asked the police man to take her to the station to write her statement and that she was ready to go to court

Hmmmmm...obviously Nigeria is moving forward and we are becoming " our own leader"
Shutout to this #STRONGGIRL
